This dog was definitely not a woman's best friend on this day.
A Colorado woman was rushed to hospital after being stabbed by her dog on Wednesday, sparking a police investigation, KDVR reports.
Hospital staff, not surprisingly, didn't believe Celinda Haynes' story, suspecting instead that it was domestic violence instead.
"She's lovable," Haynes said of her pooch Mia. "She'll kill you with kindness."
The doggy drama played out after the canine, who was large enough to reach the kitchen counter, picked up a pairing knife by the handle with its mouth and inadvertently stabbed Haynes as she tried to retrieve it - even after offering Mia some treats.
"When she went over to eat the treat, she ran the knife across my arm and cut a big old gash about 4-5 inches long," Haynes told the station.
Deputy Zach Johnson investigated the suspicious incident but opted not to charge Mia "because she's a dog."
