DeSoto police have identified the suspect in an aggravated robbery at a Waffle House last week.

About 2:30 a.m. Thursday, police were called to the Waffle House in the 1500 block of North Beckley Avenue, where they found a man shot in the parking lot.

Customers told police that the man had come into the restaurant, armed with an AK-47, and robbed numerous people as well as the business.

One customer, who was legally carrying a concealed handgun, followed the robber into the parking lot because he was afraid for the safety of his wife, who was on her way to the Waffle House.

The customer called out to the robber, who turned and pointed the rifle at him, police said. The customer then shot the robber several times.

The robbery suspect, who police later identified as 26-year-old Antione Devon Cooper of Dallas, was taken to a hospital, where he is on life support.

Police said the customer was not arrested.

Amazing. It actually happened, once. With 100,000,000 carrying loonitunes wandering about in Yankeeland, that one in one hundred million freak occurance happened and one of them took down a bad guy. I'll bet that for every successful one, several will be shot by the police as they try to sort out the good guys from the bad guys in an instant.

It actually happens frequently. It just don't make the news in the Canadian Soviet Socialist Republic, just like instances of black people supporting the cops don't make Fuchs News.

I was looking at some stats a couple of years ago and it appears that generally speaking, concealed/open carriers do a better job of putting down dangerous criminals than the cops do when it comes to shooting them. What I mean is, they seem to take far fewer shots to incapacitate an armed felon than the police do.

Most police officers don't practice as much as gun enthusiasts do.
At one shooting competition here I beat the top OPP shooter in .22 caliber (he was the only officer who came to the competition)
He did beat me in centerfire...(he was shooting a 9Mil. auto and I was shooting a .44 Ruger magnum)

You know what was always funny... when us city boys beat the country boys at the range from time to time.
