Metro Police said an officer was taken to the hospital after responding to a fight in East Nashville.

It happened in the South 7th Street area, the same area where another Metro officer was injured on Monday when responding to a fight.

An officer on scene told FOX 17 that another officer witnessed a man push a woman. That officer went to take him in custody and the man reportedly resisted. Both the officer and man went down and while that was happening, police said a group of people attacked and hit the officer in the head.

The original male suspect got up and ran, police said, but the officer was able to apprehend and arrest him. Minutes later, police on scene said they arrested a suspect accused of hitting the officer.

The condition of the officer is unknown, but the officer was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

This has nothing to do with Black Lives matter, this is all about a bunch of people with issues with authority, and lack of respect for the law of the land.
