A Texas funeral home appears to have a problem hanging onto its bodies.
Mission Park Funeral Chapels and Cemeteries in San Antonio is facing two lawsuits over missing bodies.
The family of Jose C. Perez, who died in February 2014, claims in a lawsuit the funeral home couldn't find his body, and instead displayed a stranger's corpse, dressed in the man's suit and jewelry.
According to the suit, staff told the family "they did not know where their father's remains were, and conducted a two- to three-hour search."
His body was eventually found at another funeral home.
The family of Julie Mott, who died in August at the age of 25, has also filed suit against Mission Park for misplacing her body.
"After the memorial service, but before the body was transferred to the crematorium, Mission lost possession of Julie Mott's body, and to this day has been unable to explain how they lost the body," the lawsuit filed this month states.
Police believe her body was likely stolen out of its coffin as it sat in a hallway in the funeral home waiting to be transported to the crematorium.
The claims have not been proven in court.
