Allow trained Canadians to obtain an 'Authorization to Carry' permit for self-defense

Every Canadian has a charter right to security. However, with elongated police wait times and laws that prohibits self-defense tools, Canadians are unable to defend themselves from threats, thus, their charter right is being infringed.

Authorization to Carry would allow Canadians with appropriate firearms licenses to carry restricted or prohibited pistols either openly or concealed for self-defense. By allowing trained Canadian gun owners to obtain an 'Authorization to Carry' permit for self-defense. Canada will be a safer place.

Lots of Canadians carry guns around. We get permits to do that. When hubby and I go hunting, we carry guns. When we bought guns, we carried them. You just want to be able to pack a gun around in ON and AB so you can feel all manly like and stuff, right? "Just call me Rambo, pilgrim"

I agree....the govt doesn't need to know if I'm carrying and I don't need their permission.;-)
Uh, yes, yes you do. I will say this though, when the time comes that Canadians are more likely to be the victim of a violent crime on any given day than they are of winning the lottery AND getting struck by lightning on the same day, I might agree with your sentiment. I'd also accept if you live in or work/spend a lot of time in bear country. Although anything smaller than a .44 or.45 won't do you much good

Crime is at it's lowest level since the early 70's and some asswipe comes out with this garbage-WTF are these people on anway?
I looked at some stats about a year ago and did the math and it works out to a 0.0045% chance that you will be the victim of a violent crime on any given day in Canada. Keep in mind that violent crime includes aggravated assault and in Canada for statistical purposes, for some reason ANY assault is listed as aggravated assault.
What I mean by that is, if you simply punch someone once in the stomach and they have you charged and you're convicted of assault, purely for statistical purposes that assault is considered to be aggravated assault. I don't know why we do it that way as it appears we're the only country that does that.
