Saw the movie "Jurrasic World" last might. Good movie, tremendous special effects.. The real stars were the dinosaurs. This movie brings special effects to a whole new level.

Is it still based on the ridiculous notion that dinosaurs are somehow immune to high-energy weapons?

Can't make them too easy to kill or the movie would be over in a few minutes. As I said, "btings special effects to a whole new level", Definitely worth a watch..

'Jurassic World' review: Latest instalment a dino-sized mess
New entry into storied franchise doesn't come close to thrills of original
By Bruce Kirkland, Postmedia Network

Jurassic World is loud, long, big and stupid. Just like the mutant hybrid dinosaur, Indominus rex, who serves as the fleshing-ripping villain.
The new giant hybrid runs amok a few minutes into the movie, killing dinos and humans with glee and wild abandon. The humans, working with a tribe of velociraptors who have been acclimated to humans, have to run the rex down before everyone dies.
This all happens on Isla Nublar, site of the tragic events that were depicted in the 1993 movie, Jurassic Park. The place has been rebuilt, is now run by a money-grubbing corporation, and the managers emphasize the “Wow!” factor in dino creation to amuse the public and spike attendance. But Indominus rex will once again demonstrate how mankind should never muck about with Mother Nature.
Compared to Steven Spielberg’s much-loved original, this fourth instalment in the franchise is a cruel joke. It is not just because it is a decade overdue or because of production and screenwriting problems; it is also repetitive; it is second-rate in terms of imagination; the mad science is totally ridiculous and an insult to paleontology; and the dialogue that is stuffed so awkwardly into all the actors’ mouths is even worse. No one dares to explain chaos theory in this dumbed-down movie as Jeff Goldblum did so memorably two decades ago.
Besides some decent special effects in the close-up scenes that make up for some of the cheesy stuff in the bird’s eye perspective, the thing that saves Jurassic World from total disaster is the occasional outburst of off-beat humour. Especially with Jake Johnson — one of the new faces in the Jurassic World control room — as the super-geek Larry. You gotta love Larry’s vintage Jurassic Park T-shirt, his collection of miniature dinosaur toys and the sly asides.
Meanwhile, Bryce Dallas Howard also has a couple of amusing moments when she plays off her dumb bitch persona that rules her in the early going and then turns into a femme fatale and action gal for the final act.
Chris Pratt is not as lucky. He is supposed to be the rebel hero throughout, as he is in the brilliant Guardians of the Galaxy. In this new movie, you can see that co-writer and director Colin Trevorrow (Safety Not Guaranteed) must have thought he set Pratt up as a new age Indiana Jones. But Indy had wit, a whip and a disdain for idiots who got in his way. Pratt has the physique and the flippant attitude down, but works without wit or wisdom in his character. He is just a big lug on a motorcycle.
Pratt and Howard are also unlikely love birds in the middle of the mayhem. Original Jurassic author Michael Crichton must be spinning in his grave over the banalities introduced into his world of action and moral complexity.
Director Trevorrow had a hand in writing the final draft that he filmed, with Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver and Derek Connolly also getting their names in the screenplay credits. So we now know who to blame for this mess.
Pratt plays an animal behaviouralist working for the uptight Howard, who refuses his amorous advances. She is a callous workaholic who even dumps her visiting nephews (Ty Simpkins and Nick Robinson) on her special assistant when they visit the theme park, arriving just before Indominus rex starts to wreck the joint.
But Howard’s character is not nearly has odious as the self-serving men played by Bollywood star Irrfan Khan, as the theme park owner, and Vincent D’Onofrio, as the duplicitous security chief. B.D. Wong shows up as the only actor to reprise any role from the first three movies.
In the end, Jurassic World is just an uber-expensive monster movie. The original Jurassic Park may have been enormously influential — on fans, on other filmmakers for its breakthrough special effects, and even on paleontologists for the science debate it generated — but this fourth time around is nothing special. It is a small world, after all, even when inhabited by big dinosaurs.

Watched this one last weekend. It was OK as any part three in a
movie series can be. Better special effects & CGI than the last
ones. More or les the same plot. Visually cool though.

Also watched San Andreas and it's CGI & effect where very good.

Best & most entertaining from last weekend was Spy. This one was excellent!!!

I would have enjoyed it when I was a kid or teenager but now it doesnt really do much for me. Lots of eye candy action wise but that doesnt make up for a thin predictable plot. Not for me anyway.

I look away when the t rex rips the heads off the people but if you're a mind to enjoy those zombies eating peoples and horses and shyt I guess it would bother ye. :).
nah I watch ripper movies, it's all good...

I couldn't watch that movie they just made about the girls being confined for years...started it lasted two minutes...couldn't do it...horrifying

I also don't do horror...there are some remnants left over from my catholic background I think

funnily enough, I can do Stephen King but that's only because of the depth of his character development...I am character driven and he is a master at that aspect of it

I guess I've reduced myself to human interest stories these days. Kinda boring I suppose but it does take my mind off of all the insanity in the world. Driving Mrs. Daisy was a good one and I watch it all the time I still remember my little one asking me,,dang dad are you watching that one again? :),

really good movies, with an excellent plot and depth of character portrayed by serious actors with ability are becoming rare

I can not believe the number of remakes on some movies...it's easier to just do a remake than take a chance on crafting a movie with depth

I just look for series that will hold my attention for longer than a season or two...those are few and far between too...but I do enjoy Nurse Jackie (just finishing it's last season) Game of Thrones, Vikings and a few others. Most are violent in one way or another, be it emotionally or physically.

If I am going to watch cr*p TV about the only one that can hold my interest is the American Big Brother. I didn't much enjoy the second try of the Canadian one...

Birds? Turtles? Croc's & Gators? Ever seen fresh prints left
by a wild Turkey? They're enough to make you stop & check
your surroundings 'till you figure out what you're seeing....
I meant like Nessie, ogopogo, champ, memphre, etc.

Who knows? It was only in the '70's I believe that all the unconfirmed sightings
of giant spotted sharks where confirmed (Whale Sharks), and the Giant Squid
wasn't confirmed until much more recently even with tons of indirect evidence.

So much of the worlds oceans are unexplored, so if they exist, they'll most
likely be discovered in an Asian fish market where they've been hunted & eaten
for ever and a day....
