CALGARY ─ The Calgary mother of a slain jihadist said she would have liked to try and talk sense to a Calgary Islamic State (ISIS) gunman whose rant on a recent video threatened the West.

Farah Mohamed Shirdon's video harangue of the West in a recent video dredged up Chris Boudreau's pain of losing her own son, Damian Clairmont, who was killed in Syria in 2012 as a member of the al-Qaida-linked al-Nusra Front.

"I'd corner him in a room and ask him what he's thinking ─ 'look at the people you're hurting,'" Boudreau said Friday.
"But he's so far gone."
