It's not aimed at readers like you TB. I think the vast majority would just file it under fear porn and get on with shrinking their carbon footprints, the real honest threat to mankind.

'The peer-reviewed study, which will be taught at these universities in September, says: "The central point that emerges from our research is that economic elites and organized groups representing business interests have substantial independent impacts on US government policy, while mass-based interest groups and average citizens have little or no independent influence."'

I have no doubt that the idea that wealth and power are highly influential in government will come as a stunning shock to the student body of Princeton.

Perfect, Cousin TB.

Trouble is, in North America, we make believing our own propaganda a rite of passage.

It is mental circumcision.

I don't think we have a choice but to believe the propaganda because that's what's forced on us and we're too lazy to look deeper for the real issues.

Lobotomies for everyone.

I found he was VERY difficult to listen to so I kinda lost what it was he was trying to say. I do disagree with what he had to say about liberalism tho' - its far from dead (unfortunately) lol

a BRILLIANT man.
Not really. A very skilled and competent (and damn funny) critic. But then again, so was Marx (Karl, not Groucho). It's one thing to criticise what is, another to present a better alternative, and a third (and toughest of all) to present a plan for moving from A to B.

Remember back in the mid 1800's the Canadas and the other British North American colonies were run by Family Compacts. Then, there was a desire for real democracy; more than a century and a half later there still is. Is there such a desire in the States?

Unfortunately, people want something but are not willing to get involved. They want it handed to them on a silver platter. Canadians, in particular, are content with only being democratic every 4 years or so. In the US they have the rhetoric and propaganda shoved at them every day of the year, every year. They are buried is so much BS they can't see which way is up..
