Rascals pull off Orléans daycare getaway
Five little rascals caused quite a kerfuffle when they escaped from an Orléans daycare Tuesday.
It might sound comical, but it was no laughing matter for parents when they found out their four-year-old kids had snuck off the school grounds.
“With all of the terrible things that are happening these days, this incident could have had grave consequences,” said Gilles Vary in an e-mail to the Sun.
His son Samuel, 4, was among the runaways from Reine-des-Bois school just after 4 p.m.
The tikes were playing ball outside when they slipped off the property and headed down a wooded path toward one of the children’s homes, Vary said.
They were being supervised at the time.
Vary added one of the kid’s grandparents drove them back to the daycare.
“How could it be that four-year-old kids were able to flee the school property?” he asked.
He said he gave his son a firm dressing down about the dangers of walking off.
The school quickly reacted, meeting all of the children’s parents and assuring them they would tighten security.
“An internal investigation is in progress to determine how this incident could have happened and to put in motion additional security measures so that a similar incident won’t occur again,” said the school’s principal Francine Beaudoin.
“The kids’ security is a priority for us at the daycare, and I assure you that this situation is taken very seriously.”
