Conservative Commentator Says Facebook Blocked Him Over ‘Politically Incorrect’ Post About the NRA, Paula Deen and Jesus

Conservative Fox News commentator Todd Starnes said Saturday he was temporarily banned from Facebook over a post he wrote extolling the National Rifle Association, Chick-fil-A and Paula Deen.

Starnes said the comment on his Facebook fan page garnered hundreds of comments, but was deleted by the social networking site with a message that it violated Facebook’s community standards.
“You recently posted something that violates Facebook policies, so you’re temporarily blocked from using this feature,” the message said.
The message said the block was active for 12 hours; Starnes was back to posting late Saturday morning.
“Looks like Facebook has lifted the ban,” Starnes wrote. “They also deleted my status updating referencing the NRA, Jesus, Chick-fil-A and Paula Deen.”

Part of what I posted.
Pass it on.
I do not support the NRA, nor Paula who why it took so long for her hideous beliefs to come out, but I am a Christian. And I am sure I will disagree with Todd.
That is not the point.
So Mark Zuckerberg take this and shove it up your tight a*s*s*.

How is it "playing Big Brother" for a private company to set standards about what can and cannot be said on its property? Was it 1984 when Locutus banned china?

Are you suggesting that a publicly traded company doesn't have the same rights over its property as any other property owner?

Nope
Comparing CC to Facebook is a stretch is it not?

Now off to bed. Early morning at work.
God Bless.

Actually, it was just this last week that he was banned by SHADOW for telling loc to "go fu ck himself". Anybody telling a mod to do that I am sure expects to get a time out. Even I'm not so stupid as to expect anything less.

I banned china?

You use 2 handles Loc?

Thank you. Got a little mixed up there. The point remains that Facebook is a private company, which owns its website. Could someone explain to me the difference between CC having standards one is not allowed to violate at the risk of one's post being taken down and being banned, and Facebook doing the same thing?

Hmmmmm..... I must have missed the part where the fox employee told facebook admin to go fu ck themselves. For you to compare china to him then they must have done the same thing.

Social Media is about expressing ideas and debating things even within families.
I agree with some big brother, for example if they find people trolling for little girls
like my granddaughters I am all for that. I also find that having people express
their ideas when they are right off the wall these people marginalize themselves.
The food lady said what she said and she was not forthcoming about how recent
she said it. At first gave her the benefit of the doubt however found she was just
a bigot.
As for the Christian thing, I know a lot of Christians with a strong faith and they are
often at odds with fundamentalists and those who disguise hatred with faith and
there are some of those. Not all Christians are bad and not all believe the same
thing. I don't subscribe to churches that start with we all believe this or that.
That doesn't leave too many open doors come to think of it. I don't think Facebook
should be concentrating on people like this even if they are goofy, they should be
after the ones who are attempting to commit crimes

Why is that? Do you not understand that terms of service tend to deal in classes of posts, not in specific texts?

Myself I lodged a complaint with the Privacy Commissioner. Unfortunately they cannot assign fines for this lax behavior. Their powers are quite limited. Legislation is planned but when it arrives is another question.
This also applies to any company holding your private information
The Irish authorities are also investigating FB along with Canada.
