Diet soft drinks still do teeth damage | China National News

Edition 2207/11

China National News Saturday 1st June, 2013
People who drink large amounts of diet soft drinks over long periods of time may experience tooth erosion and decay as bad or worse as those who are long term drug abusers.
A new study published in the journal General Dentistry has shown the effects of diet drinks in many including very deep brown stains where it's actually eroded into the tooth, and soft and leathery teeth.
While most diet soda consumers will never see such effects, it has been recommended they wash away the acidity of diet drinks with water.
The brushing of teeth at least twice daily and drinking in moderation has also been recommended.
Dr. Mohammed Boussiouny, a professor of restorative dentistry at the Temple University School of Dentistry, speaking to Health Day News, said: "You look at it side-to-side with 'meth mouth' or 'coke mouth,' it is startling to see the intensity and extent of damage more or less the same."
Dr Boussiouny made reference to a woman in her 30's who drank about two litres of diet soft drink every day for 3-5 years and suffered from eroded teeth that resembled those of a 29-year-old meth addict who had been taking drugs for three years and a 51-year-old crack cocaine user who had an 18-year-history drug abuse."

Same happens with people who mouth off. They are often times missing them.
