Unfortunately the home owner has left himself open to a lawsuit for injuring the guy. He should have finished him off..

Why? This occurred in the US, and he is allowed to defend his home and his life. The suspect opened fire at him, so he was totally justified in shooting the piece of crap. It said that the police didn't expect to lay any charges to the homeowner, so that would pretty much squash any hope for a lawsuit. There would be no grounds for one, as in the eyes of the law the homeowner did nothing wrong.
It should be that way here in Canada as well. One should not be charged for defending themselves.

hehe Instant karma.
That's no guarantee against litigation.Unfortunately the home owner has left himself open to a lawsuit for injuring the guy. He should have finished him off..
Booby traps. That is a state by state thing. If this happened in Massachusetts they encourage you to leave the house or beg and plead for mercy. I am embellishing a bit there, but they do not encourage anyone to defend themselves in that manner.
were you referring to the officer once again?hehe Instant karma.
Damn, that Sgt. J. Brandon is cute!

What's it like in the State that this occurred? Hopefully it happened in a State where he'll be lauded instead of sued.
Well I saw palm trees in the news clip so that is a good sign.
