SASKATOON – Saskatoon police say they have safety concerns about a man with no arms who was caught driving without wearing a seatbelt.

The man was pulled over last week and ticketed as part of a traffic blitz.

Police spokeswoman Alyson Edwards says the man told officers he has been stopped several times before, but never fined because he can’t do up the belt when he’s alone in his car.

The man drives a modified vehicle using his feet.

Edwards says wearing a seatbelt is the law and the man has no medical exemption allowing him to drive without one.

She says senior officers are to meet with the man to discuss the ticket and how he can apply for an exemption.

I can't even imagine driving without my seat belt. I buckle up just to sit in the damn car.

Honestly, if this were me, I'd be begging strangers to buckle me up. lol.

I bet he's been told before by the cops that he needed a medical waiver in order to drive w/o a seat belt. I'd have ticketed him, too. There are associations and societies all over the country that supply info like that, as well.
