I'm in favour of paying him until he's proven guilty (say for a maximum of two months) but he's been left in a position that makes fulfilling his duties impossible- if he has to travel he should at least get the expenses and should NOT be getting paid if duties are removed. I listened to a discussion on the radio about the senators this morning, besides being morons themselves, they are surrounded by morons! Even entertaining the thought that P.E.I. should have equal representation as Ontario is retarded. What happened to "Rep by Pop"? As far as length of term, I think 5 years should be it. As far as non attendence, if they don't show up they don't get paid. I suppose they should be allowed sick days to be paid, upon submission of a note from their doctor. It shouldn't be hard to straighten those bastards out!

The Senate is supposed to balance the imbalance of population in favour of regions. EEE does this. What we have now does not.

But he should be suspended without pay until he is found either guilty or not guilty. If found guilty, he should then be fired.

I differ slightly, if he's willing to work he should continue exactly as before until found guilty (but with a definite time limit, no dragging it out) If he's not willing to work he shouldn't be paid.

I would probably be ok with this as well. My preference would be suspended but if he is not suspended he should work.

Of course one could argue about what actually is considered work for a senator.

I would be in favour of, if he works he gets paid but it's conditional and he has to sign a contract saying; if he IS found guilty all money paid out to him from the time he is charged until found guilty must be repaid to the tax payer.

As for sick days, people misunderstand the doctor's note. It is to protect the employer. A doctor's note is to prove the employee is fit to work so that the employer doesn't get sued for forcing an employee back into service that is actually unfit to work. Thus I am saying no to sick time as he has been accused but not convicted. All benefits are suspended until he proves his innocence. Unless someone can convince me he deserves otherwise.

Reminds me of a funny story years ago. I was advised by payroll that one of my employees would no longer be paid when "sick" unless he brought a note from his doctor. Sure enough it wasn't many days before he was off "sick" again. The next day he returned handing me a note - "Mr. Brown feels he is unable to work today". - Doctors aren't stupid!

I'd be happy if that was a condition for everyone on the Senate.

This guy should be suspended until the charges are brought to trial and dealt with. Actually, he should step aside, ethically speaking until the charges are dealt with. But this is government we're talking about, so I won't hold my breath.
