A student at Cardinal Leger Secondary School in Brampton, Ontario has been stabbed by a fellow student on the same day that classes were set to resume.
At 11:04 Tuesday morning, Peel Regional Police Constable Fiona Thivierge says that a student was attacked with a knife. A 911 call was placed by a neighbourhood officer working in the area.
It is unknown whether the stabbing took place inside or outside of the school. The student's injuries are non life-threatening.
"The culprit had taken off on foot, so our canine unit was called to assist in tracking," said Constable Thivierge. Officers arrived on the scene at 11:30, and a perimeter has been set up around the school.
Police say the suspect is a white male wearing a school uniform. He is said to be 5"8 in height, with a slim build and shaved head.
