Small plane crashes on Cessna Drive in Erie, may have clipped roof of house
ERIE -- A small plane apparently clipped the roof of a house and crashed on Cessna Drive this morning shortly after taking off from Erie Municipal Airport, an accident that left the flight-instructor pilot unharmed and his student passenger with minor injuries.
Crews from the Mountain View Fire Rescue responded to the crash at Cessna and Beech Court, northwest of the airport, around 8:30 a.m.
The plane is believed to have clipped the top of a nearby house, fire officials said. Skid marks from the plane were evident on the driveway, just a few yards from where the aircraft came to rest, according to officials.
The passenger was taken to the hospital to get checked out after suffering minor injuries, said Laura McConnell, spokeswoman for the fire rescue.
