A hapless BBC presenter has been at the heart of so many "technical difficulties" that she has become a hit on YouTube.

Catriona Stewart, who presents Reporting Scotland, made a mistake which saw an aid worker introduced as a Nazi war criminal.

As Shearer revealed it was the 70th anniversary of Rudolf Hess's Second World War defection to Scotland in an attempt to broker peace with Britain, a photograph of Mary Gardner, a victim of a terrorist bombing, was shown.

And that wasn't the end of the matter. Nor was it the first.

And now the weather... with Rudolph Hess: Is this Britain's most disaster-prone presenter?

Once could be put down to bad luck. But a succession of onscreen disasters must be considered careless.

One BBC presenter has been at the heart of a succession of 'technical difficulties' that have earned her plenty of fans on YouTube - but few plaudits from her viewers.

The Scottish BBC news reader managed a mistake which saw an aid worker introduced as a Nazi war criminal.

Catriona Shearer realises the error and tries to brush it aside with a smile. The BBC presenter has been at the heart of a succession of 'technical difficulties' that have earned her plenty of fans on YouTube

As Catriona Shearer revealed it was the 70th anniversary of Rudolf Hess's Second World War defection to Scotland in an attempt to broker peace, a photograph of Mary Gardner, a victim of a terrorist bombing, was shown.

Informed of the mistake Miss Shearer made a quick apology and moved on to the weather.

But after a short pause a clip of a rousing speech by Hitler's deputy Hess was played.

The presenter could not hide her smirk as the director was again forced to return to the studio.

But to compound the mistake, her microphone cut out as she made yet another apology, before finally the director made the right cut and went to weather presenter Cat Cubie.

Not Rudolf Hess: The BBC weather forecaster finally gets on screen

The clip uploaded on Friday is becoming a YouTube hit with more than 140,000 views.

This is not the first time the presenter's gaffes have been caught on camera.

Videos on YouTube show two other onscreen bloopers that have attracted thousands of views.

In one clip Shearer begins giving a traffic update, but 'disappears' from the screen mid-sentence, though her voice can still be heard as the graphic is shown.

It then returns to a shot of the studio and Miss Shearer is seen back in her chair, carrying on with the report.

Now you see her... Miss Shearer was shown reading the traffic update, before disappearing, leaving only a view of a chair and Glasgow - but her voice could still be heard

Another shows the London studio cutting to the newsreader in Glasgow by accident - and with her thinking she's off air she is seen fiddling with her bra strap and microphone wire.

She then picks up her papers and marches off-screen.

Miss Shearer also has her own Facebook appreciation page with hundreds of fans - with one describing her latest mistake as 'comical genius'.
