Needless to say, I dumbed down when learning Dutch and explored an easier, almost mutually intelligible alternative with Afrikaans and came across some really cool Afrikaans music, my favourite being Bok van Blerk.
Some of his music is patriotic Boer stuff, but it all sounds good.
My favourite song is the single from the album with the same name De la Ray, a song about the famous Afrikaner general in the Boer war which also signs about the atrocities committed against the farmers, or Boers in the Transvaal.
