We need some music talk around here.

This Zepplin tune is probably the best of Jon Bonham, or close to it. The drums absolutely assault this song.

Something Led Zep was fantastic at was going from acoustic to electric sounds with such smooth transitions. I happened to catch Heart at an awards show just the other night, and Zeppelin was a big influence on them. A good example of showing both that transition and virtuosity here in this rendition of Crazy On You. They always displayed in no uncertain terms that chicks can rock every bit as hard as the guys can.

That one brings back memories.

This one was a staple in my house back in the 60's. I've never heard Clapton/Cream play Crosswords the same twice. I like their original hit the best.

We went Victoria about 4 years ago and watched Chilliwack live at the theatre. I think they are very talented. We had great seats about 5 rows from stage.

years ago I saw Neil Diamond at the Colliseum, he was great in those days, not so good now.

A decade ago I was vacationing in Vancouver, saw an ad in a local newspaper about a performance by a guitarist I'd never heard of, Leo Kottke, and decided to go. As a stone-fingered campfire guitarist myself, I'm always interested in what other people can do with the instrument. Man, that guy is good. He did everything, pop, rock, blues, jazz, even Bach, on a 12-string, unaccompanied, and it sounded like at least two guys, sometimes three. I have since bought every LP and CD he's ever recorded, and would consider them cheap at twice the price. There are only two other performers who've stirred me enough to do that: Stan Rogers, and John Fogerty.

Being a bassist I once saw Dave Holland play 2 hours straight by himself at the Soft Rock Cafe in Vancouver. Holland has played with all of the jazz giants, like Miles Davis and John Coltrane. Everyone in that small venue was a bass player. Most of us were falling off our chairs witnessing the outer limits of this instrument.

What amazed me about the heart awards was the great job Gretchen Wilson did on Barricuda..her and Pearl Jam. I really thought it was the old Heart[back before Ann became so damn matronly.]

I was hopeing to post a picture of the Beaver Creek Traveling Bass I bought not too long ago. Accoustic and mini with great sound when plugged in. Plus you can drive while playing it. heh heh Can't find the Beaver Creek Website and my wife grabbed the digital camera so I can't even take a pic of it.

So instead I will link to a vid of this local fellow playing Little Red Rooster. My daughter recorded this live down at my local and unfortunatly in the middle of the song. The guitarist Mike, wails pretty good on that little Harmony guitar.

Kinda big @ 9 megs so dialupers beware.

Ok wife is back and I got a couple of pics to toss up.
This is the Beaver Creek Travel Bass.

And this is a Takamine 12 string I got for Christmas.

Was that the chick from Nashville with Alice In Chains? If so, she absolutly nailed that song along with the band.

I have been to many concerts, my faves were Steve Miller in 77, and a all day concert in Van. at the stadium in the 80's Heart-Blue Oyter Cult-LoverBoy-Ted Nugent was very good...
