Beatles producer Sir George Martin has received an honourary doctorate in music.
Fondly referred to as "the fifth Beatle" for his work with the Fab Four, the 80-year-old was honoured by Leeds Metropolitan University for his services to the music world.
The accolade comes after he was inducted into the UK Music Hall of Fame earlier this month.
Sir George is recognised as one of music's most versatile and imaginative talents.
He signed the Beatles to EMI in 1962 and produced almost all of their records.
Dr Nick Childs, conductor of the Black Dyke Band which appeared on the Beatles hit record Yellow Submarine, was Sir George's citator during the ceremony at the university's Headingley campus.
Sir George entered the music industry in 1950 after studying at the Guildhall School of Music.
He started off recording classical music and his later experience with jazz and pop led to his appointment as head of EMI's Parlophone Records in 1955.
With 30 number ones in the UK singles charts, five Grammys, and two Ivor Novello Awards, Sir George is hailed as one of the world's most successful producers. In 1988 Sir George was appointed CBE for his services to the music industry and he was knighted in 1996.
