Al Jazeera is screening 52 episodes of Welsh children's show The Baaas. Being Welsh, the programme is about sheep and they speak in Welsh (they love their sheep do the Welsh) and, being British and having to make EVERYTHING politically correct, the sheep are multi-racial.

Welsh children's TV show, The Baas, is to appear on Al Jazeera. All the sheep cannot be white, as they are multi-racial.

A Welsh language children's programme about an "extended family of musical, multi-racial sheep" is to be aired on Al Jazeera.

The Middle East-based broadcaster has bought the rights to screen 52 episodes of S4C's The Baaas. They have also purchased Sali Mali, another of the Welsh language channel's popular pre-school children's programmes.

The two series will be shown in Arabic on Al Jazeera's Children's Channel, which is beamed to countries such as Iraq, Egypt, Lebanon, Libya, Palestine, Saudi Arabia and Sudan.

Al Jazeera was criticised by Western media for broadcasting Osama bin Laden video messages following the September 11 terror attacks.

A spokesman for S4C said: "The Baaas is a live action series following the exploits of an extended family of musical, multi-racial sheep.

"The series gives viewers a taste of a wide range of musical styles, from opera to rap, while also placing a strong emphasis on the importance of recycling and family interaction."

Sali Mali is based on the books written by Mary Vaughan Jones and illustrated by Jac Jones in the 1960s and 1970s.

The spokesman added: "The adventures of Sali Mali have delighted generations of Welsh youngsters, whether in book, cartoon or live action format.

"This sale to Al Jazeera is further proof of this delightful and engaging character's enduring appeal
