Brosnan Feels for New 007 Star
Pierce Brosnan has every sympathy for new Bond Daniel Craig after his first 007 stunt went wrong.
Craig had his teeth knocked out during a fight scene for the movie Casino Royale.
Brosnan said he knew just how dangerous playing the superspy can be.
"I got stitched up and sewn up a few times, it just didn't get in the papers," he said at the UK premiere of his new film The Matador.
"I had my face sliced open by a stuntman. I had a knee injury. You get twisted some way or another if you throw yourself into it. There's going to be mishaps."
Some critics have said Craig is a poor choice for Bond.
But Brosnan, 52, star of Goldeneye and Die Another Day, said: "I think Daniel is a very fine actor. These are rocky waters and they're going to get him one way or another, but I think he will have the last laugh at the end of it."
The Irishman's new role in The Matador is a million miles away from 007. He plays a sleazy, washed-up hitman in the black comedy, which earned him a Golden Globe nomination.
His next projects include a sequel to The Thomas Crown Affair.
