List what you think are the five best songs of your decade, the ones that represent it best.

Let me jump in the way back machine...

Smoke On The Water (Deep Purple)
Fame (Bowie)
Black Water (Doobies)
Aqualung (Jethro Tull)
Anything by Ozzie

After that my little secret confession was I liked Disco since I LOVED to wear hats and heels and play dress up!

Whoa, I can jump even farther back! The first song is, in my view, the song that, more than any other, defines the sixties experience. It and others are my very most favourite songs of that era (there are at least another hundred or so of my very most favourite songs of that era, but hey).

For What It's Worth - Buffalo Springfield
Hey Jude - Beatles
Peaceful Easy Feeling - Eagles
Let's Spend The Night Together - Rolling Stones
Bad Moon Rising - Creedence Clearwater

What's my decade? It should be the eighties, but it kind of starts in the seventies and runs right up to now. I'll try though.

Blister in the Sun, Violent Femmes
Sixteen Shells from a Thirty Ought Six, Tom Waits
London Calling, the Clash
Snake Oil, Steve Earle
McCormick, Chickasaw Mud Puppies.

Hmm, this is a hard one. I grew up in the 90s (some can claim I'm still growing up, I am actually, considering I was 13 when "Y2K" "happened", so the 00's are also my decade). I dunno which songs are really "shaped" the 90s and 00s (especially since the 00s are still happening), so I'll just give some songs from those periods which I think can be considered really, really good.

Zombie (The Cranberries)
Hand In Hand (Dune - when I was young, I was a real fan of them)
Ice Queen (Within Temptation - Dutch gothic band)
Smells Like Teen Spirit (Nirvana)
Mmmbop (Hanson - I actually really hate this song, but I do know that the song was really addictive!)

You know, as this list grows, I was thinking that a compilation of all these songs would make a pretty cool CD. The CanCon Hits of All Times.

I like Chinese music, although I don't know it very well. I especially (okay now you will wonder for sure) love pre-revolutionary Chinese opera singing.

Then you come from this decade. Whaddya listen to? My favourite new thing is that Buck Sixty-five song about driving down the road with an old yellow dog and listening to Johnny Cash 8-tracks. I get the feeling me and Buck might be able to drink some beer together.

Really hard to narrow it down, but here's what I came up with:

Nirvana – Smells Like Teen Spirit
Red Hot Chili Peppers – Under the Bridge
Metallica – Enter Sandman
Pearl Jam – Jeremy
Soundgarden – Black Hole Sun

Let see I guess it would be the seventies, Although Haggis has mentioned some of my favourites, Here goes...

Alright Now ...Free
Have a Cigar...Pink Floyd
Whole Lotta Rosie...ACDC
I Had a Dream...Audience
School...Supertramp

% is not nearly enough. 5 barely covers one genre.

Way back in The Olde Days,we listened to Rock Around The clock by Bill Haley and The Comets,Heartbreak Hotel by Elvis Presley,Sixteen Tons by Tennessee Ernie Ford,The Great Pretender by The Platters, and Let Me Go Lover by Joajn Weber. By the way, if you want some good collections of Canadian music, try these: The 2 4CD sets put out by the Juno people "Oh What A Feeling" There are nearly every one of the oldies I've ever wanted on these! I also have an older set called "Made In Canada",put out by RCA on cassette.
