LOS ANGELES – Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown's daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown, was reportedly placed in a medically induced coma due to swelling of the brain, according to TMZ, after being found unconscious in a bathtub in her home in Roswell, Ga. on Saturday morning.The 21-year-old was rushed to the hospital, where doctors stabilized her breathing. She was in the intensive care unit at North Fulton Hospital before being induced.
Police responded to a 911 call after Brown's husband, Nick Gordon, and Brown's friend found her in the tub at 10:30 a.m. ET. Brown was reportedly face down on her stomach in the bathtub full of water.
The two then performed CPR on her unresponsive body until the police and paramedics arrived, providing life-saving care.
Georgia's CBS affiliate first reported the news.
Police told the Associated Press that the incident is still under investigation. The Roswell Police Department announced the news on its Facebook page, along with a photo of Brown's residence.
The police reportedly searched her home for drugs this afternoon, but didn't find any.
The circumstances of the incident are eerie considering that Houston was found dead in a bathtub following a drug overdose at Los Angeles' Beverly Hilton Hotel. She died on Feb. 11, 2012.
Earlier this week, Bobbi Kristina wrote "miss you mommy" on Twitter, while also acknowledging the upcoming anniversary of Houston's death.

possibly...when they induce a coma I always think it's either because the body needs the energy to heal or the brain is not receiving the proper amount of oxygen so they hope by inducing the coma the body will heal enough to give sufficient oxygen...sometimes it's a good thing other times I think it is merely a last resort, a last try.

she is young and sometimes they bounce back but wow, floating in the bathtub...last person I heard about in that state is alive but will never walk, talk or communicate again....not something I would want

Bobby Brown has released a statement about his daughter Bobbi Kristina's weekend health emergency, begging for privacy as she recovers from a near-drowning.
The 21 year old was found face down in a bathtub by her husband Nick Gordon, who performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation on her before emergency medics arrived at the couple's home and took unconscious Brown to a nearby hospital.
Amid conflicting reports suggesting Bobbi Kristina is both stable and suffering from low brain function, her father, who rushed to be at her bedside on Saturday, has broken his silence and released an official statement.
It reads: "Privacy is requested in this matter. Please allow for my family to deal with this matter and give my daughter the love and support she needs at this time."
Meanwhile, the My Prerogative singer's lawyer adds, "The report that Bobbi Kristina Brown has been taken to the hospital in Atlanta, Georgia is accurate. No additional information will be forthcoming."
The incident comes almost three years to the day Bobbi Kristina's mother, Whitney Houston, drowned in a bathtub in a Beverly Hills hotel. The soul superstar's death was drug related.
Meanwhile, stars have reacted to the news of Bobbi Kristina's hospitalization, with Missy Elliott and Ciara among those who have taken to social media to offer support to the 21 year old.

Singer Bobby Brown on Sunday asked for privacy regarding his and his late wife Whitney Houston's daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown, who according to police was found unresponsive in a bathtub at her Georgia home before she was revived at a hospital.
The incident comes nearly three years after Houston, a superstar who battled substance abuse, drowned in a bathtub in Beverly Hills, California, in February 2012. Authorities have said cocaine use and heart disease contributed to her death.
Brown, 21, was found on Saturday in the bathtub at her suburban Atlanta home by her husband Nick Gordon and a friend, the Roswell Police Department said. Gordon started CPR and police continued life-saving measures until an ambulance arrived and took her to the hospital.
"Privacy is requested in this matter. Please allow for my family to deal with this matter and give my daughter the love and support she needs at this time," said Bobby Brown in a statement issued by his lawyer Christopher Brown.
Brown was taken to North Fulton Hospital in Roswell, a suburb north of Atlanta, police said.
Doctors put her in a medically induced coma, according to CNN and other media, all of whom quoted a single source close the family, but the hospital would not confirm those reports or give any updates on her condition.
In January 2014, Brown married Gordon, who was also raised but never adopted by Houston, one of the best-selling recording artists of all time.
Houston, whose dozens of hit songs include "How Will I Know" and "I Will Always Love You," was the daughter of gospel singer Cissy Houston and a cousin of pop singer Dionne Warwick.
Bobbi Kristina Brown's father, Bobby Brown, is a Grammy Award winner who started his career as frontman for the R&B group New Edition.
Both of Bobbi Kristina's parents struggled with substance abuse, and Houston described their 15-year marriage, which ended in 2007, as drug- and alcohol-fueled. Bobby Brown was sentenced to 55 days in jail in 2013 after admitting to driving drunk in 2012.

ATLANTA - The daughter of late pop star Whitney Houston is fighting for her life two days after being found unresponsive in a bathtub at her suburban Atlanta home, her family said on Monday.
Bobbi Kristina Brown, Houston's 21-year-old daughter with singer Bobby Brown, was rushed to a hospital in Roswell, Georgia, Saturday morning after her husband and a friend found her in the tub and her husband performed CPR.
"Bobbi Kristina is fighting for her life and is surrounded by immediate family," the Houston family said in a statement. "As her father already stated, we are asking you to honor our request for privacy during this difficult time."
Citing an unidentified source close to the family, CNN reported she was in a medically induced coma and breathing with the help of a ventilator.
Her brain function will not be known until doctors reduce the sedatives she is receiving, the source told CNN.
Tara Landy, a spokeswoman for North Fulton Hospital, declined to comment on Brown's condition.
A police report released on Monday said officers responded to the home in reference to a drowning. The narrative of the incident offered no information about the young woman's condition or the circumstances leading to her being found.
Officer Lisa Holland, spokeswoman for the Roswell Police Department, said a search warrant and recording of the 911 call in the case would not be made public until police finish their investigation.
"The Roswell Police Department will not be providing any further information at this time," the spokeswoman said in an email.
Houston, a multiple Grammy Award winner and actress who battled substance abuse, drowned in a bathtub in Beverly Hills, California on Feb. 11, 2012. Authorities said cocaine use and heart disease contributed to her death at age 48.
Bobby Brown asked for privacy on Sunday as he tended to his daughter.

Whitney Houston’s daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown has been moved to Atlanta’s Emory University Hospital in Georgia as she continues her recovery following a near-drowning incident at the weekend.
The 21 year old was found unresponsive and face down a bathtub at her home in Roswell, Georgia on Saturday, and taken to a nearby hospital.
Amid family calls for privacy, Brown was quietly moved to the Atlanta hospital on Monday.
A family spokesman released a statement on Monday, declaring Bobbi Kristina was fighting for her life. Her current condition is not known.
As of late Monday, she remained on a ventilator in the intensive care unit, according to a source close to the family. She was placed in a medically-induced coma upon her arrival to hospital.
The insider told CNN on Monday that Brown was in “really bad shape”, adding, “Everyone is hoping for the best, preparing for the worst... and praying for a miracle.”
