'Star Trek' actor Joseph Ruskin dies

Actor Joseph Ruskin has died. He was 89.

The star passed away at the UCLA Medical Center in Santa Monica, California on Saturday and his death was due to natural causes, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Ruskin appeared in TV shows including The Twilight Zone, Star Trek and Alias, while his most notable films include The Magnificent Seven and Prizzi's Honor.

He also served as a board member for the Screen Actors Guild from 1976 to 1999 and he became the first Western Regional Vice President of the Actors Equity Association.

He was awarded with SAG's Ralph Morgan Award in 2011 for his services to the organisation and the Lucy Jordan Award in 2003 followed by the Patrick Quinn Award in 2013 for his work with the AEA.
