The 33rd series of Doctor Who comes to our screens in the autumn and, according to the pictures that have been released, it looks amazing.

The first episode, which will be the show's 785th - "Asylum of the Daleks" - sees the Doctor having his work cut out as he battles with every Dalek that has ever appeared in the 49 years of Doctor Who!!

The series, which starts on Saturday 1st September also sees the Doctor and his friends battling a deadly robot gunslinger in a Wild West Town and dodging pterodactyls as dinosaurs invade London in 1974.

It's also been revealed that series 34 will come along next year, the year in which Doctor Who celebrates its 50th birthday

Episode1, Asylum of the Daleks: The Eleventh Doctor has his work cut out as he battles with every Dalek that has ever appeared in the 49 years of Doctor Who.

Episode 1, Asylum of the Daleks: Amy gets attacked by a Dalek - but not in the way you think

Episode 2, Dinosaurs on a Spaceship: Dinosaurs! On a Spaceship! The second episode will feature one of the largest sets to date, and will see the Time Lord land on a spaceship that contain monstrous pre-historic creatures

Episode 2, Dinosaurs on a Spaceship: The Doctor, Brian and Rory come under attack from Pterodactyls

Episode 3, A Town Called Mercy: This Western-themed episode, a genre Doctor Who hasn't attempted since the Sixties, was filmed in Spain. A deadly robot gunslinger (Andrew Brooke) terrorises a Wild West town

The new series will have 15 episodes.

Episode 5 will see the permanent departure of Rory and Amy.

The Doctor will get his new female sidekick in this year's Christmas Day special episode. She will be played by Jenna-Louise Coleman and is reportedly called Clara (below).

Episode 1 will have the Daleks returning to the show for the first time since 2010. Executive producer Caroline Skinner has said "If you think you know all there is to know about the Daleks, think again".

The episode will feature every Dalek that has ever appeared in Doctor Who, including the Special Weapons Dalek from the 1988 story, Remembrance of the Daleks (below).

According to The Daily Telegraph, the production team located the remaining models of the various versions of the Daleks and shipped them to the studios in Cardiff Bay. This included a Dalek owned by the show's previous writer Russell T Davies.

Episode 2, Dinosaurs on a Spaceship sees the Doctor in Egypt with Queen Nefertiti. He receives a call about a spaceship which will crash into Earth in six hours. Taking Nefertiti with him, he picks up an Edwardian explorer and his companions Amy and Rory ten months after he last saw them in "Asylum of the Daleks", accidentally taking Rory's father Brian on the TARDIS as well. They land on the spaceship and come face-to-face with ankylosaurus dinosaurs.

Episode 5, The Angels Take Manhattan, is Rory and Amy's last episode. The episode features the incredibly creepy Weeping Angels, statue-like beings that only move when you aren't looking at them so that, when they attack you, it's best not to divert your gaze from them (even if you are only looking at them on a TV monitor) and, if you do, when you look back (or if you switch the light back on) you will discover that they have advanced closer to you.

I have the wherewithall to not read obvious spoilers, and it was both of you so no stress, but, if you watch the show you'd get that I said it partly as a joke over Dr.Song's recurring phrase... spoilers. ;)

sorry, I didn't get your joke because I only have seen small bits of the series with the various actors and actresses playing the doctor and the companion(s).

Good grief. I can't remember back that far.
Think I liked Troughton and tennant best. Haven't decided on the new dude but he seems to be pretty cool.

The first on i saw was Colin Baker, then i saw the reruns on PBS with Tom Baker and later Sylvester McCoy,and a few others which i'm trying to remember the names.

would you support an American and or Canadian tv series?
Not of Dr. Who series. Perhaps maybe a Dr. What, a Dr. I Don't Know, a Dr. Why, A Dr. Because, etc. (What = 2nd base, I Don't Know = 3rd base, Why = left field, Because = center field, etc.)
I don't know if Canada can make a sci-fi as good as Dr Who,for some here who are bilingual you may have seen "Dans une galaxie près de chez vous" which was a sci-fi comedy made in quebec.
sci-fi is not taken seriously here in french quebec.
as for a US version of Dr Who,it would turn into a sci-fi porn pretty fast, also when the us tried to do their version of a british sci-fi "Red Dwarf" it was from what i've heard a FLOP.

Yeah, Canucks seem to have a penchant for making satires, comedy, and copies of American shows.
Americans will make it porn, too soapy, or dumbed-down modern cowboys and injuns (or cops n robbers) crap that requires very little brain activity.
