Worst U.S. movies ever made

I want to see how many of these have actually been watched.

Keep in mind, almost all of these movies have gained a cult following. That is, they are so bad, they are now considered good.

I remember Howard the Duck. Huge hoopla and hype. Can't actually remember now if I actually saw it or got talked out of it by friends who saw it before me.

Waterworld starring Kevin Costner would be one of my picks.

That wasn't that bad. It just wasn't the mega hit Dancing With The Wolves everybody expected. And probably not good enough to make back the huge budget they spent on it.

I watched 10 minutes of Highlander II. It annoyed me immensely. I will never watch the whole thing.

Granted. But you can't deny that the original Highlander was awesome!

The movie I'm surprised is not on the list is "The Devil's Advocate" starring Keanu Reeves or "Nacho Libre" starring Jack Black.

The original was awesome which was what made the second such a disappointment. They're doing a remake of the original too-that will likely be terrible. Good movies should not be remade.

It's not much fun discussing the worst movies ever made, how about the cult classics? Anyone a fan of Evil Dead, Evil Dead II and Army of Darkness?

I'm guessing you were not stoned when you watched Nacho Libre?

I was not. Oviously that was the problem.

How is Blair Witch Project not on that list?

The things I could have done with those 90 minutes! Now gone forever.

I think Blair Witch Project is actually critically acclaimed.

A horror movie that relies upon creepiness instead of surprises.

Evil Dead was kick a$$, but the series got old.

Ever see Blackula? That was among the most ridiculous movies ever made.

You might as well get Eraserhead while you're at it... The movie is very disturbing - but for the life of me, I can't tell you why.

I actually enjoyed Waterworld. I think if the hype for it hadn't gone into overdrive(due to the success of Dances With Wolves) it may have fared better. Also, if someone other than Kevin Costner(again, due to his starring in Dances With Wolves rather than his acting ability)had starred in it may have done better in the box office.

I think Abandon("starring" Katie Holmes) is one of the crappiest movies I have ever seen. Ugh.

I thought The Devil's Advocate was great.

"I'm a FAAAAAAN of man Kevin!"

The Thin Red Line was kind of painful. I also saw the new CONAN movie... that was pretty bad.

Expect domestic terrorism if they ever try to make Gilligan's Island into a movie.

Oh ****! They ARE making Gilligan's Island into a ****ing movie.

**** me Charlie Brown!

That's weird. I thought there already was a Gilligan's Island movie. It was with the original cast of the sitcom, basically the TV show being transformed into a feature film.

It's more like one long episode of the Gilligan's Island show than a movie though.

I think there were 2 or 3.

As someone who rarely watches movies the only one on the list I saw was Howard the Duck.
yes it was not the best I agree. The last time on saw a movie in a theatre was 0.11 from a
few years back. I have seen movie trailers and they such so the movie can't be much either.
I have seen a few on TV but they remind me why I don't watch movies.

Oh the one I hated was the Beatles thing what was it something about 8 days a week or whatever.

What it is not affected by where you see it. A movie you see in the theatre is still a movie when it is played on a network on TV. Some movies never make it to theatrical release either, they go straight to DVD. Are they not movies because they never made it to a theatre?

Nothing can possibly be as bad ... oops, I mean, entertaining as Edward Wood's Plan 9 From Outer Space:

I was watching this gem on an online TV channel and the chatters were all having a good laugh about it. Then, somewhere along the line we compared Vampira:

compared to Elvira:

We had a vote as to who was sexier and more desirable. Vampira won by a unanimous vote.

-------------------------------------------------------------

As for other bad movies I've seen, these include:

Robot Monster

Zombies From the Stratosphere

Attack of the 50 Foot Woman

Eraser Head

Rocky Horror Picture Show

Harold & Maude

I watched Eegah (1962), one of the movies on the list, today. There's one part where three characters are walking in a desert and a disembodied voice yells "Watch out for snakes!" I thought it hilarious, so I looked it up. Sure enough, other people think it's funny too. The phrase "Watch out from snakes!" has been used in comedy, such as the U.S. production of The Office.

I can only presume that if 'Plan 9' was so bad, Plans 1-8 were ever sh*ttier... Kinda like comparing them to Preparation(s) A through G, ya know, before they reached 'Preparation H'.
