Fastest Mobile Network Ever Commercialized Now Ready in Major Urban Canadian Centres
Bell Delivers up to 2.4 Mbps Wireless Download Speed to
Urban Canadians Coast-to-Coast

TORONTO, Ontario, April 26 - Bell Canada, the leader in telecommunications, today announced that its high-speed wireless EV-DO data network is now available to most urban Canadians from the Atlantic to the Pacific oceans.

Bell Canada today launched new EV-DO networks in Ottawa, Hamilton, Burlington and Oakville. Bell also announced a roaming agreement with Aliant for EV-DO service in Halifax. Bell Mobility currently also offers its customers high-speed wireless EV-DO data network access in Vancouver, Whistler, Calgary, Edmonton, Brandon, Winnipeg, Toronto, Quebec City, Mont-Tremblant and Montreal making Bell Canada the only carrier in Canada offering the fastest high-speed mobile wireless service in all regions of Canada.

"Canada is a country on the move - and Bell Canada has optimized high-speed wireless no matter what major city you do business in or travel to," said Jim Jaques, Senior Vice President Business Marketing and Sales, Bell Mobility. "Bell Canada is delivering what our customers from coast-to-coast want - the freedom of true mobility."

The leading-edge mobile high-speed EV-DO data network (EVolution Data Optimized) leverages third-generation (3G) wireless networks technology to offer the fastest and most advanced mobile network ever commercialized. EV-DO

delivers data at unprecedented download rates of up to 2.4 megabits per second - delivering broadband speed on compatible mobile wireless devices.

"Bell's investment in EV-DO means that wireless broadband is expanding coverage at unprecedented speeds by any measure," said Jaques. "In just six months we are able to offer the majority of urban Canadians wireless broadband." "This investment is a priority for Bell because the speed at which we've expanded EV-DO coverage will change the way people connect," said Jaques. "From watching live TV on the go with frame rates high enough to deliver a fluid image to creating and editing documents in the most familiar formats while mobile, EV-DO changes the way people work and play."

EV-DO high-speed means users can connect to the home office from the road and download massive spreadsheets and PowerPoint presentations at speeds comparable to wired high-speed networks. In fact, a one-megabyte file can take just 20 seconds, compared to two minutes on non-EV-DO networks. "EV-DO offers customers both high-speed and low-latency connection -important for business applications- as well as ubiquitous coverage allowing users to continue using their devices on the move. It's a significant jump in speed and performance form the last generation of CDMA wireless data technology," said Brian Sharwood, principal analyst, The SeaBoard Group.

With today's announcement, Bell officially added two new powerful 1xEV-DO-capable devices to its line-up. The feature-packed Sanyo SCP-7500 phone, available exclusively from Bell Mobility, combines long range walkie-talkie functionality with broadband-like download speeds.
