I'm thinking of buying a 7270 to use when I get to Toronto. It's tri-band that operates on 900, 1800 and 1900. I've read that most Canadian companies use 850. Will I have problems with reception? :?:

Well
Fido is being bought by Rogers as of November 2004.
Basically, there's only 1 GSM network in Canada. It operates 850 and 1900.
Like you've said, Nokia 7270 is a tri-band phone with 900/1800/1900. So the phone will work, but not as good as a phone with 850mhz.
But it shouldn't be A BIG problem, but I will always suggest a phone with 850mhz to use in North America.

Thanks for the reply :)

Since it's on a frequency that's not too popular... will the signal be weak? I'm wondering if my battery life will suffer as well.

Right now I'm torn between the 7270 and N90- what's the 3G/WCDMA frequency that most providers in Canada use? The N90 does 2100MHz. If Canada's frequency is different, is there anyway I can get the phone modded?

only on existing spectrum so 850/1900

poo  Do you know if there's any way I could get the phone modded so I could use to be able to use CDMA when it's available? And if I could get that done in Toronto?
