How long should I charge my new phone before it's first use?

I got a new phone today and was told to charge 2 hours; 8 hours and another person said 24 hours. How much time is suffificent that will enhance the battery life of my phone?

just turn off the phone and charge it until it's full.

the battery won't take any charge once it's full.

Does it matter if it's on or off? I've never turned my phone off to charge it.

Well for the first charged, is recommanded to turn off the phone completely and charge it full.
