Can a non-Telus phones be used with Telus plan?

Hi there,

I am looking to upgrade my cell phone (I use Telus) and really want a high end phone w/camera (such as the Audiovox 8920).

The catch is that I don't want to spend $400 dollars. Can Bell phones be used on the Telus network (they are both same network right?) ?

Can I buy a phone that's used with an American company (e.g. Verizon) like off Ebay?

What do I need to know?

Thanks!

RE: Can a non-Telus phones be used with Telus plan?

It is possible to unlock CDMA phones to work with other carriers, but there is a) no guarantee that the network you are currently on will unlock it for you and b) there is no guarantee that the new network you want to move to will allow you to use your phone, although likely they will.

It's very difficult to get your phone properly unlocked, but if you're up for lots of talking, look at http://www.canadiancontent.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1407 for reference on how to do this with Bell.
