The NS government just announced $6.5 million a year for the new telecare service, where a staff of nurses will staff the phone 24/7 and field calls from potential patients.

I've got to say this was a great surprise. Most people visiting doctors are in and out within 10 minutes and didn't require the expertise of a doctor for the appointment. This service will reduce the stain on emergency rooms and general practitioners dealing with minor ailments. Not to mention the convenience for people, especially those not living near a doctor.

I suspect this will be a very popular service and those phones will be ringing off the hook the first week they are open.
