Autopsies are being performed Sunday after three people died in a fire in an abandoned building in Charlottetown, P.E.I., Saturday morning. A fourth person has been airlifted to hospital.
Police discovered the fire, and an injured man, while on patrol around 5:30 a.m. Saturday. The teenager had been inside the building, but was able to escape and told police there were others still in the building.
Once the fire was extinguished the three bodies were found.
The Charlottetown Guardian reported the three deceased and the male in hospital were all teenagers, their names haven’t been released.
Deputy fire Chief Gary McGuigan told the paper the building, which had been vacant for nearly five years, didn’t have electricity so it couldn’t have been an electrical fire.
“It was ignited by some other means,” he told the Guardian.
