The next time you're feeling a little constipated just reached for a Coca-Cola.
The beverage giant will roll out a new drink – Coca-Cola Plus – in Japan next month which has no sugar or calories and touts five grams of dietary fibre. Dietary fibre helps ease bowl movements by absorbing water as it travels through your digestive system.
"We're looking to add functional beverages," CEO James Quincy told Business Insider.
According to a press release, Coca-Cola Plus will have the same flavour as its regular soda, "plus functional benefits, to health- and taste-conscious consumers 40 and older as a beverage to enjoy with food."
The press release recommends drinking one Coca-Cola Plus per day with food to help suppress fat absorption and moderate levels of triglycerides in the blood after eating.
You could also reach your daily fibre needs by eating foods naturally high in fiber like vegetables, fruits, beans, whole grains and nuts.
