Sarsaparilla aka Rootbeer.

I made myself a batch of sarsaparilla 3 days back and this AM I cracked a bottle for sampling...

HOLY F***! THIS SH!T IS GOOOOOOD!!!

Best goddamn rootbeer float I've ever had for breakfast.

Tomorrow the Creme Soda will be ripe. I can't wait.




Recipe
  1. Sarsaparilla Root 1oz​
  2. Licorice Root 1oz​
  3. Wintergreen 1oz​
  4. 6 vanilla beans (chopped) or 1 tablespoon of real vanilla extract.​
  5. Dark Sugar 1 Cup​
  6. Champagne yeast 1 pkg.​




Simmer herbs in 2L RO water (don't boil) for 1/2 an hour
Let steep and cool until piss warm and add yeast and sugar.

Let ferment for 1 hour and add another 2L RO (room temperature) water​

Strain and bottle.​

Let sit in warm cupboard to ferment for 3 days​

Enjoy!​

Yep. We used raw cane sugar. Which is what the stuff of old was made with.

True brown will work well too, as you found out.

It adds a creaminess overly processed sugar, or corn syrup just won't achieve.

I like it but can't drink the commerical creme soda or rootbeer because of the colouring agents added. A 2L of the pink CRUSH crap would probably kill me.
