What the uninsured do not get is preventive care. (no annual exams) If you came down with something you were treated in the emergency rooms. According to the most recent survey data, 57,653 patients visit the hospital's emergency room; a total of 13,978 patients are admitted yearly. This is a county hospital and must accept all thru its emergency room. There are many county hospitals in the United States.

First of all the most important health care is making sure people don't end up
in the emergency room. Preventive care is the most valuable and the most
inexpensive in the long run. People with serious injuries or health problems
often require specialists to recover from health problems. If the illness was in
fact discovered before emergency it could be corrected before it became a
life threatening or chronic illness.
Our system works well all in all, there are times when you have to wait and if
it is not life threatening that is alright. I waited once for almost a year for a
minor operation, my wife has had some serious close calls and when it happens
they look after he immediately. No the system is not perfect but it works and its
better than having those with limited funds left out in the cold.
As for having health care a world patient concept and only treat the seriously ill
in emergency rooms, wow that is very expensive and who is going to pay for
that in the long run. I support good emergency care but not as the first line of
defense in the health care system
