The events there are moving fast, so here's the short of it.

Witnesses are saying the Libyan government is using jets and helicopters to fire on protesters there. (A couple of Libyan pilots have defected and disobeyed orders to fire on protesters.) Furthermore, witness are saying that the regime close to the leader, Qaddafi, are flying in mercenaries from other countries to fight with the protesters on the ground. Furthermore, furthermore, the city of Benghazi, Libya, which has been taken over by the opposition, may be firebombed at some point in the future.

So, with all this information, the international community implementing a no-fly zone over Libya immediately seems like a good idea, right?

They probably would. Fortunately, we have learned our lesson, won't intervene anywhere ever again, and no longer give a **** about what happens overseas to those who seek political change.

Good idea, one of the best things I've heard anybody in the US say in a long time, and would do the US a world of good.

Or any other country for that matter. Don't jump into someone else's conflict/business unless or until they ask for help..... otherwise, it can easily be seen as unwarrented interference into matters that are not their business and make things even worse.

What an idiot:

Defiant Gaddafi vows to fight on
In televised speech, Libyan leader blames youths inspired by region's revolutions for unrest and vows to die a "martyr".....

He may get his wish.

Sporadic gunfire throughout the capital. The army is divided, and it appears only his elite forces have remained loyal. Unless Gaddafi leaves now, the Libyan military will fight amongst themselves effectively a new civil war. Libya has no civilian government structure like Egypt, so the new government will have to be created from scratch, which doesn't bode well for the new leader to be democratically elected. I predict Gaddafi clings to power or the unrest leads to a coup and another military dictatorship. Another possibility is Libya becoming like Somalia where tribal war lords control territories.

The reason why this is being considered is because the Libyan ambassador to the UN asked the security council for it.
The Libyan Ambassador to the UN is a hypocrite because he was fine with the way things were in Libya prior to this uprising..
