The "Palestine Papers" story will probably make today's headlines, but I doubt many Canadian new sources will give a detailed analysis if they do mention them today. For those of you who like to go straight to the source and make up your minds based on the facts, rather than someone else's interpretation of the facts (aka: spin)

Here is a link to the source:
The Palestine Papers - Al Jazeera English

al Jazeeera
...Al Jazeera has been given unhindered access to the largest-ever leak of confidential documents related to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. There are nearly 1,700 files, thousands of pages of diplomatic correspondence detailing the inner workings of the Israeli-Palestinian peace process... ...date from 1999 to 2010... ...They will reveal new details about:

* the Palestinian Authority’s willingness to concede illegal Israeli settlements in East Jerusalem, and to be “creative” about the status of the Haram al-Sharif/Temple Mount;
* the compromises the Palestinian Authority was prepared to make on refugees and the right of return;
* details of the PA’s security cooperation with Israel;
* and private exchanges between Palestinian and American negotiators in late 2009, when the Goldstone Report was being discussed at the United Nations.

...We have taken great care over an extended period of time to assure ourselves of their authenticity
Introducing The Palestine Papers - The Palestine Papers - Al Jazeera English

PA offered to concede almost all of East Jerusalem, an historic concession for which Israel offered nothing in return.
"The biggest Yerushalayim" - The Palestine Papers - Al Jazeera English

Erekat (Palestinian Negotiator): “It’s solved. You have the Clinton Parameters formula. For the Old City sovereignty for Palestine, except the Jewish quarter and part of the Armenian quarter … the Haram can be left to be discussed - there are creative ways, having a body or a committee, having undertakings for example not to dig [excavations under the Al Aqsa mosque]. The only thing I cannot do is convert to Zionism.”
Erekat's solution for the Haram - The Palestine Papers - Al Jazeera English

Al Jazeera has shared "The Palestine Papers" with The Guardian and they are also giving a detailed analysis:

The Christian Science Monitor:

...chief Palestinian negotiator Saab Erekat next to a quote attributed to him from a 2008 meeting with then Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni. "We are offering you the biggest Yerushalayim in Jewish history," Mr. Erekat allegedly told her, using the Hebrew word for the holy city, as he promised to give away all but one Israeli settlement in East Jerusalem.

Ms. Livni's response? "We do not like this suggestion because it does not meet our demands, and probably it was not easy for you to think about it, but I really appreciate it." Livni said only an agreement to give up the remaining East Jerusalem settlement of Har Homa and the the further settlements of Ma'ale Adumim and Ariel in the West Bank would be sufficient.

Undisclosed/protected sources leaked the Palestine Papers to Al Jazeera, who shared them with The Guardian. The first link in my first post goes to al Jazeera.

The last link in my post above goes to the Guardian, where you can browse some of the released documents for yourself.

IMO, The Papers reveal:

1) Although Israel's leaders claim they are willing to make compromises for peace, in reality they demand Palestinians acquiesce completely to all their demands.

2) Although Americans claim they are trying to be an honest broker in peace negotiations, in reality, they support all Israeli demands.

3) When Palestinians yield to all Israeli demands in the hope of a settlement, Israel's leaders respond with more demands which are then supported by the Americans.

The Israeli/Palestinian "peace negotiations" are a farce. Even though the Palestinian leaders commit acts of treason as per Israeli demands, kill fellow Palestinians as per Israeli demands and sell out their own people as per Israeli demands, their actions are never enough for Israel, which is content to negotiate peace indefinitely while they create new facts on the ground (toss Palestinians out of their homes, raze their homes to the ground and build Jewish only colonies over the ruins).

Israel's leaders have no interest in peace. Their long term goal is to seize most of the West Bank and turn every remaining Palestinian village into a prison just like Gaza while negotiating peace.

IMO, Israel will accomplish this goal, but they will never have peace.

Canada should re-examine its unshakable support of Israeli war crimes and crimes against humanity.

Another aspect of this, is how will ordinary Palestinians react, now that their "leaders" have been clearly exposed as Israeli collaborators and traitors.

Pick 6, 8 year old kids. 3 Israeli and 3 Palestinian and let them write the peace deal. Send them all to away to Africa to hang out and become friends and learn each other's languages to the point of mastery let them find their own way to balance religion with friendship. Upon return, have the 3 Isreali kids live and go to school for six months in Palestine and let the 3 Palestinian kid live and go to school in Israel for 6 months. After the six months, send them off to again to reunite and work out a peace deal.

divide divide divide, infighting among Palestinian resistance serves Israel, especially since the next round against Lebanon is in the breach.

I just don't trust leaks, especially in the light of Wiki type connections

A very good idea, exactly why it will never happen. Israeli babies are taught to hate the other virtually from birth.

I think the main point of these documents, is the revelation of how far Palestinian leaders were willing to go to make peace and how unwilling Israeli leaders are to make any compromises or concessions.

If that point can be gotten across to the man in the street then good but you know I have little faith that the MSM will give any time to the leaks, except in their burial. Even a little attention is better than none though. That information lock down really has to be fixed some day.

What's with all the digging under the Temple Mt and Dome of the Rock/Al Aqsa level? All the oil is on the eastern side of the fault line.

Israelis claim they are doing legitimate archeological excavations.

Palestinians claim the Israelis are undermining the foundations of the Dome of the Rock and the Al Aqsa Mosque, so that the slightest earthquake would destroy these buildings and then the Israelis could claim it was God's will.

I already gave you an answer at least twice.

What I said is:
I've noticed that many Jews work in the MSM. I've also observed that the MSM tends to report mostly the Israeli narrative, with few exceptions.
If I wrote something else previously, (something you have yet to prove), then I stand corrected by this statement:

If you don't like my answer, that's too bad.

CanaduhThe Native American "holocaust" happened before the media could latch onto it, not to mention the fact they dont own the media like the jews do. Every time the Israels do something or someone speaks out against them they play the holocaust get out of jail free card.Post 42 EAO - Your Posts below - Jewish Cabals controls the Media - I was surprised how you let that slip out - . I would have expected the 65th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz to get far less coverage than the 65th anniversary of D-Day, the end of WW II or even the second anniversary of Israel's ongoing Gaza blockade/crime against humanity. The holocaust gets more news coverage now than when it was happening.You made this comment when world leaders were at the memorial events - It appears there was to much coverage for you - Well the press does that when leaders of many countries attend ceremonies - But as they were remebering Jews Murdered that does not sink into your thick head. I would agree that the holocaust is an important historical event, but that's not why it gets so much news coverage. I'm inclined to agree with Canaduh's and Finklestein's observations regarding the constant and overwhelming Holocaust news coverage. Its being used as cover for Israeli atrocities.

Please stop making crap up about me. Quote me and I'll deal with the quote.

Also, what you claim I may have wrote about Jews is off topic.

I see some more Canadian news sources have finally started to cover this story. Some like this Maclean's story appear deliberately vague and misleading:

The Arabic news network Al Jazeera has obtained more than 1,600 classified documents detailing a decade of Israeli-Palestinian negotiations. The documents include memos, emails, maps, meeting minutes, strategy papers, and accounts of “high level exchanges” between 1999 to 2010. Among the most significant revelations so far is the apparent willingness of the Palestinian Authority to make significant concessions on the issue of illegal Israeli settlements in East Jerusalem, which then Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni’s refused to accept because it did not include other settlements in the West Bank. The leaks are expected to be damaging to Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas and the Palestinian Authority, who were unable to obtain a peace deal with the Israelis despite making offers and concessions that would not necessarily be in the best interests of the Palestinian people.

Goob, following me around from post to post claiming I wrote something and then failing to provide any proof crap is getting a little old.

Back on subject:

Israel and its supporters have typically described members of the Palestinian leadership as unreliable peace partners, saying they rarely make meaningful concessions. But the portrait emerging from the Al Jazeera documents is one of a string of concessions from the Palestinian side that led nowhere and an increasingly frustrated and desperate Abbas. That frustration extends to the US.
“Nineteen years of promises and you haven't made up your minds what you want to do with us,” Abbas reportedly told Mitchell in 2009. “We delivered on our road map obligations. Even Yuval Diskin raises his hat on security. But no, they can't even give a six-month freeze to give me a figleaf."

Mr. Diskin is the head of Israel’s internal security agency and the “six-month freeze” refers to the moratorium on East Jerusalem settlement construction that Abbas sought.
