The cartoon is clearly some of the anti-communist propaganda typical of the late 40s and early 50s. It eventually culminated in the extremism of the McCarthy era and an end to many of the freedoms the cartoon espoused during its first few minutes.
Did anyone check out the background of Harding College (Now Harding University) to see what it was all about? Here is a link, you might find it enlightening. --
BTW Obama is a moderate conservative by Canadian standards.

Only in the US would someone with his background and philosophy be considered liberal.
Na! It would taste too liberal for him.

What doesn't it?
You mean McCarty-ism.
Nope, since Harding College/University is irrelevant to the message.
I absolutely agree. I've been saying that since his campaign started.
Only in Canada would Harper be considered right wing.

I said McCarthy era. Believe it or not that is where McCarthyism came from.
The source of the video is not relevant to the message? Isn't that like saying that what comes our of you mouth is irrelevant to the message? Harding University is a right wing ultra-religious institution. The cartoon accurately reflected its anti-communist values. Note that in spite of its spiel about the great American freedoms including freedom of speech the film ended with the citizens attacking the spokesperson they disagreed with.

Well, perhaps maybe Sweden, Oz, Norway, China, Brazil, Russia, Ireland, etc. might be considered a bit left-wing, too. At least as far as being progressive goes, anyway.

Condescension will get you what you deserve, if you can't handle it, don't do it .

What has this got to do with Obama? The cartoon is clearly some of the anti-communist propaganda typical of the late 40s and early 50s. It eventually culminated in the extremism of the McCarthy era and an end to many of the freedoms the cartoon espoused during its first few minutes.

Some people, not I, say freedom is just another word for nothing left to lose. I guess one really understands what freedom is after an era like the red scare and McCarthyism.
I didn't witness that, but I am living through another age of creeping limited freedoms, though I think it's a pull and push from both ends on that spectrum.
