First launched in Toronto in 2005, Israeli apartheid Week has grown to become one of the most important global events in the Palestine solidarity calendar. Last year, more than 35 cities around the world participated in the week's activities, which took place in the wake of Israel's brutal assault against the people of Gaza. This year, more than 40 cities plan to participate including about a dozen Canadian cities.

The Sixth Annual Israeli Apartheid Week 2010

Solidarity in Action: Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions
March 2010

Mark your calendars - the 6th International Israeli Apartheid Week (IAW) will take place across the globe from from the 1st to the 14th of March 2010!

Since it was first launched in 2005, IAW has grown to become one of the most important global events in the Palestine solidarity calendar. Last year, more than 40 cities around the world participated in the week's activities, which took place in the wake of Israel's brutal assault against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. IAW continues to grow with new cities joining this year.

IAW 2010 takes place following a year of incredible successes for the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement on the global level. Lectures, films, and actions will highlight some of theses successes along with the many injustices that continue to make BDS so crucial in the battle to end Israeli Apartheid. Speakers and full programme for each city will be available soon.

Israeli Apartheid:
Israel's treatment of Palestinians is analogous to South Africa's treatment of non-whites during its apartheid era. A privileged class of citizens have separate roads, inequities in infrastructure, special legal, land and access to resources rights. The elite class live in relative luxury, while they treat millions of people worse than what would qualify as cruelty if these people were animals. Apartheid is a crime against humanity.

Other Israeli Crimes Against Humanity:
Gaza is one of the world's most densely populated areas. Most of their 1.4 million residents are refugees from decades of Israeli ethnic cleansing. Israel has imprisoned these people behind walls, razor wire, landmines and guard towers. They have imposed an illegal blockade which prevents food, medicine, building material and other basic necessities from reaching hundreds of thousands of hungry, sick and homeless people. Israel has destroyed Gaza's water and sewage treatment facilities, farms and food processing centers. As a result Gazans suffer from a lack of potable water and food, while raw sewage runs through Gaza's streets. Disease and malnutrition is rampant. People die of easily treated diseases and children have stunted growth. The Israeli blockade prevents Gazans from being able to get the required parts to make repairs or build an sustainable economy, making the people dependent of international humanitarian aid which is blocked by Israel. As a result of Israeli crimes against humanity, Gaza has a living standard comparable to the poorest regions of sub-Sahara Africa.

Red Cross Report
Gaza: 1.5 million people trapped in despair

Israeli War Crimes:
United Nations Fact Finding Mission on the Gaza conflict

Canada's leaders refuse to condemn Israeli war crimes and crimes against humanity. Instead they have made statements in support of the criminal state of Israel.

How people react to Israel's crimes is a moral test.

Are all human beings are entitled to fundamental human rights?

And an ever present fixture at these pro terrorist rallies, are the flags of neo Nazi regimes and documented terrorist organizations...

Now there's something the reasoned and rational should endorse...

Oh I just LOVE the poll!

Might as well have an International Nuremburg Rally Week....

Oh right, the UN did that back in Durban a few years ago, didn't they????

BTW, Israeli Arabs vote, hold seats in the Knesset, are mayors in many towns, have full access to the Israeli court system, some (mostly Bedouin) serve in the IDF.....and those that have served retain the right (just like the Jews) to keep and bear arms.

Apartheid????

Look again.

And you people REALLY need to decide the status of the West Bank and Gaza......

Is it (unoccupied) Occupied Territory?
A separate independent entity?
Two separate independent entities, one of which is at war with Israel?
No man's land abandoned by Egypt, and Jordan.
Part of some greater "nation" called "Palestine" which includes all of Israel.

Currently, it's status in your eyes depends solely on whatever makes the Israelis look bad.

And EAO, your "poll" is an insult to our intelligence.........I voted "Palestinians are not human" simply as a protest. I hope others follow suit.

This campaign is about raising awareness of victims of Israeli war crimes and crimes against humanity. This campaign does not support discrimination against Jews or Israelis.

Israeli apologists often invoke past Jewish oppression in order to confuse the issues and obscure ongoing Israeli crimes.

Israel a Zionist state, with mixed support among the Jewish community. Zionism is a movement which started out peacefully but has evolved into malevolent entity which commits war crimes and crimes against humanity to brutally oppress, torture, rape and murder non-Jews who had the misfortune of living on land Zionists believe God gave to Jews. To support of the Zionist State of Israel is to support their war crimes and crimes against humanity.

Many Jews and Israelis actively oppose Israeli apartheid, war crimes and crimes against humanity. This campaign is no more anti-Semitic than the campaign to end South African Apartheid was anti-White. Many Jews and Israelis have actively joined this campaign. For example:

June 16, 2009
Independent Jewish Voices (Canada) Joins Campaign of Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions Against Israel

Ottawa - Independent Jewish Voices (Canada) voted to join the growing international campaign in support of the Palestinian call for Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) against Israel, at its first Annual General Meeting this past weekend. This decision makes IJV the first national Jewish organization in the world to do so. The adopted resolution states that IJV will "Support the Palestinian call for a campaign of boycott, divestment and sanctions until Israel meets its obligation to recognize the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and complies with the precepts of international law, including the right of Palestinian refugees to return to their homes and properties as stipulated in UN resolution 194."

"Independent Jewish Voices has voted to join the international boycott campaign because we stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people and support their right to self-determination," says Diana Ralph, Co-Chair of IJV. "We are calling on the Canadian government and all Members of Parliament to push for immediate sanctions on Israel."

"The time has come for people around the world to rise to the challenge in Israel/Palestine, as we did for South Africa," says Fabienne Presentey, Steering Committee member of IJV. "All voices that can be raised against this injustice must be."

The resolution, which passed with the support of 95% of voting delegates, also calls on the Canadian government to "1) cease its one-sided and uncritical support for Israel and 2) insist that Israel abide by international law”.

Welcome to Jews for a Just Peace

True Torah Jews Against Zionism - Our Mission

The relatively new concept of Zionism began only about one hundred years ago and since that time Torah-true Jewry has steadfastly opposed the Zionist ideology. This struggle is rooted in two convictions:

1) Zionism, by advocating a political and military end to the Jewish exile, denies the very essence of our Diaspora existence. We are in exile by Divine Decree and may emerge from exile solely via Divine Redemption. All human efforts to alter a metaphysical reality are doomed to end in failure and bloodshed. History has clearly borne out this teaching.

2) Zionism has not only denied our fundamental belief in Heavenly Redemption it has also created a pseudo-Judaism which views the essence of our identity to be a secular nationalism. Accordingly, Zionism and the Israeli state have consistently endeavored, via persuasion and coercion, to replace a Divine and Torah centered understanding of our people hood with an armed materialism.

True Torah Jews is dedicated to informing the world and in particular the American public and politicians that all Jews do not support the ideology of the Zionist state called "Israel" which is diametrically opposite to the teachings of traditional Judaism.
We are concerned that the widespread misconception that all Jews support the Zionist state and its actions endangers Jews worldwide.

We are NOT politically motivated. We are motivated by our concern for the peace and safety of all people throughout the world including those living in the Zionist state. We support and pray for peace for the people of the Zionist state but have no interest in and do not support the Zionist government.

The Mission of True Torah Jews Against Zionism

B'TSELEM - The Israeli Information Center for Human Rights in the Occupied Territories was established in 1989 by a group of prominent academics, attorneys, journalists, and Knesset members. It endeavors to document and educate the Israeli public and policymakers about human rights violations in the Occupied Territories, combat the phenomenon of denial prevalent among the Israeli public, and help create a human rights culture in Israel.

B'Tselem in Hebrew literally means "in the image of," and is also used as a synonym for human dignity. The word is taken from Genesis 1:27 "And God created humans in his image. In the image of God did He create him." It is in this spirit that the first article of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights states that "All human beings are born equal in dignity and rights."

As an Israeli human rights organization, B'Tselem acts primarily to change Israeli policy in the Occupied Territories and ensure that its government, which rules the Occupied Territories, protects the human rights of residents there and complies with its obligations under international law.

About_B'Tselem

Jewish Voice for Peace members are inspired by Jewish tradition to work together for peace, social justice, equality, human rights, respect for international law, and a U.S. foreign policy based on these ideals. JVP opposes anti-Jewish, anti-Muslim, and anti-Arab bigotry and oppression. JVP seeks an end to the Israeli occupation of the West Bank, Gaza Strip, and East Jerusalem; security and self-determination for Israelis and Palestinians; a just solution for Palestinian refugees based on principles established in international law; an end to violence against civilians; and peace and justice for all peoples of the Middle East.

Mission Statement

Jewish voices opposing Zionism

We came together to form the Not In Our Name (NION) network in Toronto, Ontario, during the summer of 2006, in solidarity with the people of Lebanon and Palestine against Israel’s wars and in opposition to the complicity of the Canadian government with Israel’s criminal actions.
Our basic principles are:

1. Jewish voices.

We are Jewish Canadians who oppose Israel’s wars, and Israel’s expropriation of Palestinian indigenous lands from 1948 to the present. For centuries prior to such expropriation, Jews and Arabs lived in peace in the region. This expropriation must be acknowledged and its effects, to the extent possible, halted and reversed if there is to be peace once again.
2. Against Israeli apartheid.

We reject the state of Israel’s enforcement of apartheid-like, racist laws that offer privileges to Jews while assigning non-citizenship status to non-Jews, in particular to Arab Palestinians. We oppose the so-called “Law of Return” that offers any Jewish person, from anywhere in the world, the “right” to live and work with full citizenship in the Israeli state, while denying this to expelled Palestinians. We support the right of the indigenous Palestinian population, forced to flee as refugees, to return to their lands, and to receive the fullest possible compensation for their losses in accordance with international law. A democratic secular state that does not enact racist laws holds the only promise that Jews and Arabs, Palestinians and Israelis, can live in peace.
3. We know anti-Semitism, and we oppose it.

We are no strangers to anti-Semitism – in this sense meaning anti-Jewish racism – in Canada and in other countries around the world. Among us are Holocaust survivors and family members of survivors. We and members of our immediate families have suffered discrimination that has forced us to abandon our homes and flee for our lives; to change our names in hopes that we can “pass” as non-Jews; to hide from authorities for fear of risking torture or death. We have witnessed prospects for education and employment vanish for ourselves and for our families. All because of our Jewish identity. But we find no solace from anti-Semitism, no safe haven, in the establishment and existence of a “Jewish state”. As horrendous as the experience of the Jewish Holocaust was, there is no compensation for anti-Semitism in the creation of an ethnically-exclusive state. Instead, we identify with civil rights movements that have organized and built solidarity to resist racism in all its forms wherever it occurs.
4. Judaism is not Zionism.

We understand that Judaism, a religion and/or cultural identity, is not the same as Zionism. Zionism stands for an exclusive Jewish nation-state. Jews – like Christians, Muslims, Buddhists, or those who adhere to any faith – are in no way a single, homogenous population. There are no grounds to assume that all Jews share a single view towards the state of Israel. A number of high profile, well-financed Zionist organizations – including B’Nai Brith, the Canadian Jewish Congress, the Canadian Jewish Political Affairs Committee, the Canada-Israel Committee, and the Friends of the Simon Wiesenthal Centre – claim to represent the Jewish community in Canada. They do not. What they share is a Zionist political stance, an unconditional defense of the policies of the state of Israel. These organizations speak and act for themselves alone, and not in our name.
5. Stop the harassment.

Some Zionist organizations and individuals have falsely charged that solidarity with Palestinian human rights, and opposition to the policies of the state of Israel are tantamount to anti-Semitism. There is no legitimacy to such an equation. Israel is a political entity, a national state, not a house of worship. Zionist organizations or individuals have carried out campaigns of harassment in an attempt to silence legitimate and democratically expressed opposition to the policies and practices of the state of Israel. Such harassment denies freedom of speech and threatens to de-legitimize the Palestinian struggle for human rights. The false charges of anti-Semitism also trivialize the actual experiences of anti-Jewish racism.

Apartheid South Africa also had their token blacks and coloreds, just like Israel has their token Arabs. In reality, these people are powerless, oppressed and victims of discrimination.

You can't believe that all human beings have fundamental human rights and then support Israeli war crimes and crimes against humanity which denies hundreds of thousands of people their fundamental human rights.

The two positions are mutually exclusive. Human rights are either a basic entitlement or they aren't.

If you support what Israel does to these people, you either don't believe in human rights, or you don't consider Palestinians to be human beings. If you can offer another possibility, please argue your point in a polite and rational way.

IMO, people who support Israel have the same morality of people who supported Nazi Germany. I neither support Nazism nor Zionism. In fact, I find the similarities between these two movements and the people who support them strikingly similar.

Palestinians are the new Jews. Israel treats these people as badly as Nazi Germany treated Jews in the 1930's. It still remains to be seen if Zionists will also seek a final solution to the Palestinian question, like the Nazis did in the 1940's. If Zionists do decide to exterminate Palestinians, I'll continue raising awareness of their oppression and injustice. People like you will volunteer to operate the gas chambers.

Personally, I don't see much of a difference between Zionism and Nazism.

EaO, this last post was incredibly offensive.

Ask yourself a question........where are all the European Jews pictured in those pics????????

Where??????

Come ON! WHERE????

They are BAKED, among the almost 6 million Jews murdered in the Holocaust....thanks to people EXACTLY like you, obsessed with Jews as one of the (imagined) great evils of the world......(while you give Iran, North Korea, and CHINA a pass, fer God's sake)

This is completely disgusting.....here's a comparison for you......

In the four years of the Holocaust the Jewish population of Europe dropped from 9.5 million to 3.5 million.....THAT is genocide.

Meanwhile, the Arab population in Israel has grown from 156,000 in 1949 to over a million.........and 2.4 million in the West Bank and Gaza......both populations growing by leaps and bounds.

You can't see the difference?

You owe every Jew on earth, and especially every Israeli, an abject apology.

I post to raising awareness of oppression, injustice, war crimes and crimes against humanity and back my points up with references. In the 1980's, I participated in protests against South African Apartheid and volunteered to help refugees fleeing American war crimes in Latin America.

I am consistent regarding human rights and raising awareness regarding oppression and injustice.

I post on this subject because many Canadians are ignorant of Zionist oppression and injustice and as a result support Israel and the Canadian government's stated support of Israel. I'd like people to know what they are supporting.

I can excuse the ignorant, but you you can't claim ignorance. You have read enough of my posts to know what the Zionist state of Israel does to their non-citizens and yet you continue to support their war crimes and crimes against humanity.

I am against putting children in pits surrounded by razor wire adjacent to tanks and artillery pieces as they fire high explosives and chemical weapons at the children's relatives. I am against rounding up civilians, putting them in a house and then dropping a bomb on the house killing most of the people inside. I am against restraining people on the ground floor of their homes, so they can shield soldiers who use their home as a command post or a firing position. I am against forcing children to march in front of soldiers as they engage the enemy or forcing children to search for booby traps at gun point. I am against dropping chemical bombs on UN shelters, schools and hospitals. I am against gunning down unarmed women and children in cold blood as they flee under a white flag of truce.

I am also against firing rockets and mortars at civilian targets.

You can read it all here:
United Nations Fact Finding Mission on the Gaza conflict

I can criticize both side's atrocities. You cannot.

You owe every Jew on earth, and especially every Israeli, an abject apology.

My viewpoint is shared by millions of Jews and Israelis. You'd know that if you read my references to Jewish and Israeli sources. Your viewpoint may be a majority in Canada, but it is a minority in the world. The ignorance of millions of Canadians regarding Zionist oppression and injustice is part of the problem. Its why our leaders can tacitly support Israeli atrocities rather than demand Israel respect international laws, treaties and conventions regarding human rights or fact the consequences. Canadians who support Israel should know what it is they support.

You confuse final result with process. Exterminating Jews was the final step in a process. Zionists haven't started wholesale exterminations... yet,... but they have embarked on the same path which led the Nazis to exterminating Jews. The time to oppose Nazi oppression was at the beginning of the process, not the end. The time to speak out and act against Zionist oppression and injustice is now.

Most Germans during the 1930's aren't that different from you, Colpy. They believed dehumanizing and demonizing propaganda. They said nothing while millions of people lost their rights. They failed to act as the state rounded up and forced millions of people into overpopulated ghettos behind walls, guard towers and razor wire. Not only didn't they act, they supported it, just like you.

As the Goldstone Report clearly indicates, Palestinian lives have the same value as European Jews under Nazi domination. They can tortured and murdered with impunity. Palestinians are today where European Jews were during the 1930's. They are considered enemies of the state and are denied adequate food, medicine and shelter. As their situation continues to deteriorate, its only a matter of time before millions of Palestinians face the same fate as millions of European Jews, Roma, blacks, Slavs... under Nazi occupation during the 1940's.

Red Cross finds starving children with 12 corpses in Gaza 'house of horrors'

(Reuters)

The ICRC believes there are more wounded sheltering in the ruins of shelled houses in Gaza

The International Committee of the Red Cross has accused the Israeli military of "unacceptable" conduct and breaching international humanitarian law after discovering four emaciated children living next to the corpses of their mothers and other adults in bomb-shattered houses in Gaza City.
The ICRC said that it had spent four days seeking Israeli guarantees of safe passage so that it could gain access to the houses in the badly damaged Zaytun neighbourhood of the city. It was finally allowed to send in a rescue team and four Palestine Red Crescent Society ambulances yesterday afternoon and said today that what they found was shocking.

In one house they discovered four small children, alive but too weak to stand, next to the bodies of their dead mothers. In all their were 12 dead bodies lying on mattresses.

In another house they found 15 survivors of the Israeli bombardment, several of them wounded, and in a third, three corpses. At that point they were ordered to leave by Israeli soldiers manning a post some 80 metres away, but they refused to do so....

Red Cross finds starving children with 12 corpses in Gaza 'house of horrors' - Times Online
The above is but one of many examples of Israeli war crimes and crimes against humanity. I agree with Justice Goldstone (who is Jewish)

Goldstone Report Press release:
...“Now is the time for action,” Justice Goldstone told the Human Rights Council, “A culture of impunity in the region has existed for too long. The lack of accountability for war crimes and possible crimes against humanity has reached a crisis point; the ongoing lack of justice is undermining any hope for a successful peace process and reinforcing an environment that fosters violence. Time and again, experience has taught us that overlooking justice only leads to increased conflict and violence.”...

...Israel had imposed a blockade amounting to collective punishment and carried out a systematic policy of progressive isolation and deprivation of the Gaza Strip. During the Israeli military operation, code-named “Operation Cast Lead,” more than 1,400 people were killed, including women and more than 340 children, and houses, factories, wells, schools, hospitals, police stations and other public buildings were destroyed.

The report concluded that the Israeli military operation was directed at the people of Gaza as a whole, in furtherance of an overall and continuing policy aimed at punishing the Gaza population, and in a deliberate policy of disproportionate force aimed at the civilian population. The Report states that Israeli acts that deprive Palestinians in the Gaza Strip of their means of subsistence, employment, housing and water, that deny their freedom of movement and their right to leave and enter their own country, that limit their rights to access a court of law and an effective remedy, and could lead a competent court to find that the crime of persecution, a crime against humanity, has been committed....

Israel soldiers routinely gun down innocent civilians in cold blood:
Israeli soldiers shot dead 11 unarmed Palestinian civilians with white flags in Gaza offensive, claims report | World news | guardian.co.uk

Israeli soldiers routinely commit war crimes.

Here is yet another example of what Israeli apologists support:

Renowned Chinese-English physician Dr. Swee Ang gave a moving testimony on Saturday of Israel's destruction in the Gaza Strip as witnessed in her recent trip to the tiny Palestinian enclave. "Cluster bombs, deliberate assassinations of whole families that they would line up and shoot," Ang said as she listed a number of acts committed by Israel during its 22-day assault on Gaza in December and January that left over 1,400 Palestinians dead.

"The Israelis would wait until the ambulances got the wounded and then attack them, killing and injuring the drivers," she continued.

Ang and Norwegian physician Hans Husum were invited to offer an assessment of the situation in Gaza during the "Wounds of Gaza" lecture at the UNESCO Palace organized by the Sabra Shatila Foundation.

Ang, who bears distinct Asian features, also remarked that Israelis couldn't distinguish her from the Palestinians during her visit - a fact that made her proud.

"The Israelis attacked me in London for saying that 1.5 million tons of bombs had been dropped on Gaza, but I will show you the evidence," she said while presenting nauseating photographs taken during her visit of charred victims burned with phosphorous and large civilian buildings collapsed with vacuum bombs.

"I was very angry when I learned that Israeli tanks would come in front of a house and first fire a normal shell to break open the wall, then shoot a phosphorous shell into it," she said.

Husum, equally angered by the war in Gaza, lashed out at the United States which he said provided Israel with the experimental Dense Inert Metal Explosives, or DIME weapons, to test on the Palestinians.

"This weapon tears the flesh off the bone, it opens up the chest, ... it kills a lot of people," he said, adding that the "new kind of wars" like in Gaza and Israel's summer 2006 war on Lebanon were launched not to make conventional military advancements, but rather with the aim of breaking the will of the people.

He went on to predict that the next war in Lebanon would be an urban one, systematically targeting cities in order to "break society" because, as he put, "humanitarian law is dead - it's out."

"I've been a war surgeon for 30 years. I've seen a lot, but I am shocked," he said. "If the aim of the enemy is to scare us into subjugation and to put us down on our knees, then we have to stand up - we do not bend down."

Physicians offer chilling account of Gaza atrocities :: www.uruknet.info :: informazione dal medio oriente :: information from middle east :: [vs-1]

Israel's recent actions in Gaza are not new. They've been getting away with murder for years. For example:

Not guilty. The Israeli captain who emptied his rifle into a Palestinain schoolgirl | World news | The Guardian

As Israeli atrocities continue to grow in scale and frequency, they become more difficult to ignore. I fully expect that at some point, Zionists will finally implement a final solution to the Palestinian question. When that happens, I expect that many Israeli apologists will continue to support Israel, just like many Nazi apologists continued to support Nazis after they began their extermination campaign.

The Nazis didn't have a "Final Solution" for their "undesirables" until the 1940's. During the 1930's, the Nazis behaved in much the same manner as the Zionists behave today. I'm not saying the Zionists currently have a plan to exterminate "undesirables", but that such a plan is inevitable if Zionists maintain their current downward spiral of ever more frequent and greater atrocities.

Clearly Zionists intend to cleanse the region formerly known as Palestine and now known as Israel and the Occupied Territories of all non-Jews. Obviously Zionists have no moral dilemma committing atrocities, war crimes or crimes against humanity. I suspect the main reason why they haven't started a extermination campaign has more to do with not wanting bad publicity and loosing American support rather than ethics or morals, since they clearly lack both.

The situation today in Israel and the Occupied Territories is similar to Germany in the 1930's. Its still not too late for people to speak out against Zionist oppression and injustice and make a difference, possible preventing a Palestinian holocaust. Everyone who knows what's going on in Israel and the occupied territories and either says nothing or worse supports it, is just as guilty as all the people who knew what was going on in Nazi Germany during the 1930's and failed to speak out or supported it.

People like yourself, who support Israel despite their atrocities, war crimes and crimes against humanity are the moral equivalent of people who supported Nazi Germany during the 1930's despite their atrocities, war crimes and crimes against humanity.

In case I'm not clear enough for you:

Nazism=evil

and

Zionism=evil

"Read this story and consider if these Israeli soldiers consider Palestinians to be human:"

earth_as_one, surely you remember that not only Palestinians, but ALL Arab children are thought, virtually as soon as they are out of their mothers's womb that Jews are nothing but pigs and anyone not a Muslim is a monkey. Or is it the other way? Or both?

You obviously have no empathy for these fellow human beings. Otherwise, you'd have no trouble understanding their anger.

I'm sure many victims of Nazi atrocities also said many unkind things about their oppressors. How would you feel about a state which has taken your rights and freedom away, kills your friends and family with impunity, destroys your livelihood and now denies you access to potable water, adequate food/medicine, makes you homeless... Imagine how you would feel about the people who make you rot in the filth and squalor of a concentration camp.

I'm sure everyone in this situation would be angry.

But if you believe these people should not be angry with their oppressors, please argue your point, politely and rationally.
