I don't intend to make a habit of starting threads because as an American on a Canadian board I don't want to be a sciattone, but I'm torn between either a thread on "white men with blue eyes" started the financial mess or this:
Obviously at some point in the next few years there are going to be 'misunderstandings' in the Arctic. Do you still want out of NATO? Still want Russia as your ally instead of the US or have Russia map your cities for you or supply your military supplies? What if Russia makes a move while Canada is on stand down?

MOSCOW – Russia is reportedly planning to create a dedicated military force to help protect its interests in the disputed Arctic region.
The presidential Security Council has released a document outlining a policy for the Arctic that includes creating a special group of military forces.
The report, released this week and reported by Russian media today, comes as Canada, Russia and other countries try to assert Arctic jurisdiction.....
Communications director Dan Dugas said the department is examining a number of options, "including acquiring more patrol ships, participating in exercises and operations, and increasing the size of the Rangers to improve surveillance and response capabilities and expand overall presence in the North."
