BEIJING–A newspaper published by China's ruling Communist Party is blasting the latest Guns N' Roses album as an attack on the nation.
Delayed since recording began in 1994, Chinese Democracy hit stores in the U.S. on Sunday, although it is unlikely to be sold legally in China, where censors maintain tight control over films, music and publications.
In an article Monday headlined "American band releases album venomously attacking China," the Global Times said unidentified Chinese Internet users had described the album as part of a plot by some in the West to "grasp and control the world using democracy as a pawn.''
The record "turns its spear point on China," the article said.
China's Foreign Ministry did not respond to faxed questions about the article, although a spokesman speaking on routine condition of anonymity said: "We don't need to comment on that.''
Spokesmen for the Culture Ministry and State Administration of Radio, Film and Television could not be reached for comment.
The song could be heard online Monday and it was not immediately possible to tell whether China's Internet monitors were seeking to block access to it.
Monitors use content filters that highlight and sometimes block messages containing words such as democracy. That prompted some Internet users to combine English and Chinese characters in their postings about the album to skirt such monitoring.

The thing I hate about Commy rule is that they have taken the liberty upon them self’s to shut out free speech only because of fear. The Commys fear the word freedom. They are pathetic manipulators and for that they have turned their land into a hypocritical crap hole.........................

And what does what Stalin ever did have to do with China? Because they have a simmilar style government? I guess if that is the case then Canada is just as guilty for all the things the US has been doing for the last 8 years..... interesting mentality.

Hypocracy seems to be the trend no matter where you live or what your government is. Until I see our own nations dealing with our own hypocracies and crimes against equality and humanity, I think it's pretty damn funny to focus on what other countries do with themselves within their own borders.

The album is going to be crap anyways, what's the big deal?

I think I did old boy, you don't seem to think it is a big deal that expression is being banned.

So if you were the socialist dictator you would ban something you don't approve of?

What else does the great state of China not allow it's people to see, hear, do or read?

......and if they don't like it they get their heads run over by tanks.



If your going to defend socialism you should pick a state that is defensible if there is such a place.:lol:
