Why is it called "Liberal" Party of Australia?

The Australian Liberal Party are the biggest bunch of hypocrites on earth. They support George Bush, they support long setences for people who commit crimes without rehabilitation, they are pro-big business, they support censoring movies and games with graphic immorality as those bible preachers call it, and they aren't even remotely Liberal.

Could someone fill me in here please??? They were supposed to be centre-left.

Maybe there a little more liberal than their conservative party? I dunno. Whats in a name really?

Under Chretien we were not that Liberal.

Its just a name... parties morph over time.

Maybe they should rebrand ?
