Chile's General Pinochet 'dead'

Chile's former military leader Augusto Pinochet has died, Chilean TV reports.

The 91-year-old had been receiving treatment at a Santiago military hospital after an earlier heart attack.

Gen Pinochet was in power from 1973-90 after overthrowing the government. During that time more than 3,000 people were killed or "disappeared". He is accused of dozens of human rights violations but has never faced trial because of poor health.

Yep there he is---one of the UKs most usefull allies---nice work letting him slip out of britain on a false pretext, I suppose it would have been all too much for you all to have Pinochet spending his last few yeas in a spanish prison as it would make the Uk look a little backward . oh well --at least those juicy defense contacts between chile and the uk are intact.

Funny how the Uk would go to the enormous trouble to destroy a country like iraq---kill hundreds of thousands of people to bring saddam to justice---but would actually assist pinochet to elude justice---when they had him right there under arrest.

There's hypocrasy---but this whole scenario is more than that---its its --what is the word?--its its english
