History: Greatest Leader and Why

Hey guys, who do you think is the greatest leader in the world? He/She could be dead or still alive....

I would personally pick Adolf Hitler....although he commanded the SS troops to kill 3 million Jews and many million others...he gave everyone jobbs...

I still like Tecumseh. A man of his time, and fully cognizant of the future the tribes faced, he still attempted to rally them for a final push. He died one of the great heroes of the War of 1812, recognized for his field ability and humanity by both sides; on his death, the American press waxed eloquent. His followers were heartbroken and buried him in a hidden grave. A giant had passed away.

I would personally like to add Alexander the great to the list, at such a young age conquering the known world and loved (for the most part) by his followers....also the greatest tacticion the world has ever known

He, the Russian people and communism saved the world from Hitler.

It was only Stalin who recognised the global threat of fascism--as early as 1936--by giving support to the antifascist Spanish republic fighting Franco while the cowardly American and British covertly supported Franco, Mussolinni and Hitler.

The fact that later these flip floppers -flopped and realized their mistake--only meant that they had a greater fire to put out thanks to their cowardice, ineptitude and unspeakable hypocrasy.

I like David Ben-Gurion.

He led his countrymen into nationhood and served as both PM and Minister of Defense winning a war of independence and establishing a nation. A plump little fireball with a huge mind, crazy white hair and a wild look.

Wouldnt you guys think that Pope John Paul II was a great *leader* in a way???....He morally brought down the "Iron Curtain"....ended communism...He was a spiritually leading people...

Queen Elizabeth I, of England, is my hero.

Given her time and circutmstances, she dedicated herself to the betterment of her realm, despite all the odds against her - namely being a woman. She made mistakes as humans do, but she did very well with what she inherited from her siblings - a very serious religious mess.

Well...my Top 2 *Greatest* leader would be....

1) Adolf Hitler- Although he killed 3 million Jews...millions of Russians and others....he gave everyone jobs....yes some might say this is slave labour....but then he gave people opportunity..

2)Pope John Paul II- He spiritually brought down communism , the *Iron Curtain*...

I'm going to sound like a horribly corrupt person, really, I swear I'm not.

Hitler: Yes, he was a great leader. He did some horrible things, inexcusable things, but that does not take away from the fact that he was a great leader. He fixed a dying Germany after WWI. In addition, he was charismatic, the people loved him! He had a plan, and he followed up.

Napoleon Bonapart (born Napoleone Buonaparte) was another great leader who picked a country up when it was on it's deathbead. Again, he was charismatic, had a plan and took action.

Trudeau - Greatest Leader Canada has ever had

F. Roosevelt - One of the only American leaders not bathed in corruption

Bolivar - Independence leader of South America

Ghandi - Indian independence

Trudeau - Greatest Leader Canada has ever had

Trudeau divided the country like no other before or since. Regardless of whether one agrees or disagrees with him politically, his divisive ways preclude him from being called a great leader. Harper is much the same way.

Probably Winston Churchill- thanks to him Hitler is history. I think the number of Jews exterminated was closer to 6 million.

Really? I would have attributed 80% of Hitler's Josef Stalin and the other 20% to Hitler's own insanity. Churchill had very little to do with "winning" WWII. He had everything to do with British morale and that's pretty much it. Nothing very earth shattering
