These young men and women have died for HIS shagging (fecking) war.......and continue to do so....while he doesn't even have the dignity to acknowledge this "milestone"?? THAT tells one just how cold, indifferent,cynical, calculating and psychopathic he is. These troops are his little toy soldiers in his war games...... kinda too bad they are real and bleed. and his war is not a game.

Unfortunately the 2000th American death in Iraq is tragically coming up too soon. In addition to the wasted young lives in Iraq, 246 of our brave men and women have been killed in Afghanistan. Our troops and the war in Afghanistan get even less attention than Iraq, if possible.
I am in Washington, DC now and along with a coalition of peace groups and local activists, we will be holding vigils at the White House for the rest of the week from 12 noon to 8 PM.
Each day we will be passing out black wrist bands and we will have each person who picks one up write a KIA troops' name and number on it. Each wrist band will also stand for 50 innocent Iraqis killed. Everyday at 6 PM we will have a "die-in." We will ask everyone who is present at 6 PM to lie down and represent a dead soldier. At that point, the park police will give us 3 warnings before they arrest us. We are not encouraging people; to get arrested is a very personal decision. I am planning to not get up on the day after the 2000th soldier is killed. I may be arrested. Then when they let me out, I will go back and lie back down. We in America have let this criminal administration get away with murder for too long. Enough is enough. It's time to start practicing non-violent civil disobedience (C.D.) on a large scale.
On Tuesday the 25th we will be fasting for the length of the vigil in solidarity with the hardships that Americans and Iraqis are enduring on a daily basis. We are asking America to fast in solidarity with us.
On Wednesday the 26th at 10:30 AM, we will be going to Arlington Cemetery to lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Then to the White House for our vigil.
On Thursday the 27th at 10:30 AM we will be delivering a wreath and signed sympathy cards to the Iraqi Embassy. We are asking people who come out to our vigil on the Lafayette Park side to bring sympathy cards. Then to the White House for our vigil.
On Friday the 28th at 10:30 AM we will be delivering flowers and get well wishes to Walter Reed Hospital and we are asking people to bring get well cards to our vigil. Then off to the White House for our vigil.
Tomorrow I will be calling on President Bush to answer my original question: "What Noble Cause?" There is absolutely no noble cause. Our children and the Iraqi people are dying and suffering for no cause except for power and money greedy criminals.

Just 467 U.S. personnel were wounded in the three-week Persian Gulf War in 1990-1991. Out of 580,400 soldiers who served in Gulf War I, 11,000 are dead, and by 2000 there were 325,000 on permanent medical disability. This astounding number of disabled vets means that a decade later, 56 percent of those soldiers who served now have medical problems.
I think these deaths are directly related to DU depleted uranium weapons. Literally hundreds of tons of this toxic poison have been dropped or fired in Iraq. American soldiers are being evacuated in record numbers for medical reasons. God knows how many Iraqi civilians have died from it. This could be the straw to break the camel's back.

these young people are not "Fallen" or some other metaphor the spin doctors would have ya believe. They have been electively murdered by the bush war for power and oil. How many more troops will die??? How many more wars will bush start before his LUST for blood/oil & power is satisfied. How many more hurricanes will destroy the S. US??? Which nation is next on the bush HIT LIST??? When will the world get so dissed off with the US .....it collectively responds militarily ?......out of sheer rage and frustration??

None of us can be sure of this future nor can we be equally smug about the future we avoided by leaving Saddam in power and continuing the Food For Palaces Program and the Mythical Containment program.
Europe along with every intellectual in the world said the Middle East can't handle democracy, and yet we note autocratic leaders in half of Europe up to the late 1980s.
If and this is a BIG IF,
If democracy of some version roots into the Garden of Eden, the land of Tigris and Euphrates Rivers, the land of Babylon, the land of the Tower of Babel, perhaps a huge geological shift will occur in all of theirs and our thinking and will do more to curb future fanaticism then ever before.

Even in the event of a miracle, where a mythical Iraqi escapes the liberation without a single casualty to anyone he has known, will he be able to forget Fallujah and Abu Ghraib, and the monstrous behaviour of his liberators.
When America leaves Iraq, whoever is in control may look upon the American invaders as a fortuitous calamity which enabled them to wrest control of their country from their dictator to themselves. Even if those new leaders are democratic (certainly more democratic than the invading America) still no Iraqi will ever be grateful to America.
Unless America has found a way to crush out the humanity of its enemies, as surely as it can crush out their lives, Iraqi history will recall America as an invader that was ousted along with its former dictator.
It will ever be an enemy, even if America manages to stay, and true Iraqi history dare only be an oral history.
Not guns nor bombs, not tanks nor planes, not torture nor intimidation, ever made anyone into a friend.

Your righteousness is offset by the view of the average Shia or Kurd, a bullied majority, and a threatened minority how your way would still have massive graves still covered and hidden, where their own brother or sister or child might overhear a mispoken word and turn them in to the Baathist Sunni dogs for a favor, who by the way were routed in Fallujah, a town little revered by your average Kurd or average Shia, but yet honored by the likes of a western outsider who thinks by only seeing American sin he sees the truth.

Had America followed Robertson's suggestion about Chavez, and sent a CIA assassination team in to take out Saddam, Iraqis might have been grateful — but it would have been a grudging gratitude, considering how many of their children had died or were dying from leukemia caused by DU still scattered about from the first Gulf War, not to mention the effects of the twelve-years of sanctions.
After ANOTHER war, an invadion, and an occupation, the Iraqi population has a right to become one of the most xenophobic countries in the world, based upon their recent history.
Having a dictator as a ruler is not an unusual fate for subjects of a middle eastern country. Having the land irradiated, to the detriment of their future generations, is.
