US senatorshave voted overwhelmingly to outlaw cruel or degrading treatment of detainees held in US custody abroad.

Well I hope it comes to be. But the most interesting part I found in article was:

"The motion was opposed by the White House, which views it as unnecessary."

Like wtf?
