After the appointment of John Roberts, most sensible-minded people in the US would have hoped that Bush would at least try to give the impression that some semblance of balance existed in the Supreme Court. That being the case, the replacement for Sandra Day O'connor should be someone in the same mould, someone who is not a right-wing hardliner, someone whose opinion cannot be prejudged, someone who will maintain the balance of the court.

Lo, who do they get? Another Bush crony.

Would the last true democrat to leave America please turn out the light?

You obviously don’t know the process. It’s the President’s choice, not a guide line of rules, not a consensus of DNC people. He was voted in knowing that he would have at least 1, possibility of 2, now a real possibility of 3 (wow) nominations. If he puts up David Duke and he’s passed by the senate guess what, he’s in.

I’m sure you guys would like to see 2 clones of Ruth Bader Ginsburg a ACLU lawyer. Well next time a DNC person wins an election (when was the last time ????) you can place a member on the Supreme Court (if bush doesn’t get all the people young enough to stay there for 20-30 years), until then enjoy the ride.

Yikkes! David Duke, but were lucky, he is a convicted Felon, can not hold Public Office!

But then again, he could be pardoned.

RE: US Supreme Court move

Perhaps that new regulation requiring an US passport in order to return after a trip to Canada won’t work such a hardship upon Americans after all.
