August 9, 2005 -- Peaceful anti-war demonstrators are being repeatedly arrested in downtown St. Petersburg, FL. The local police are acting on orders of BayWalk businesses according to the St. Petersburg Times. St. Petersburg is also considering establishing unconstitutional No-Protest Zones. Its time to launch a boycott of the trendy BayWalk chains that are having handcuffs placed on peaceful St. Pete for Peace anti-war protestors exercising their first amendment rights. BayWalk gets 3 million visitors a year -- boycotting it and the chains there will cut into the revenues of BayWalk, the City of St. Petersburg, and the chains that operate there. Here's a list of the BayWalk business chains: Muvico theaters, Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream, Johnny Rockets, Ann Taylor, Sunglass Hut, Chico's, Adobo Grill, Dan Marino's Restaurant, Jess Jewelers, Lola Jane's Beauty Lounge, Metropolitan Outfitters, Bag n Baggage, Hurricane Pass Outfitters, Wet Willie's Daiquiri Bar, Happy Feet, Too Jay's Gourmet Deli, Tokyo Sushi Cafe, White House/Black Market, EB Games, Icing by Claire's, and Art of Being. It is also important to note that BayWalk is managed by Sembler Co., the firm owned by George W. Bush's ambassador to Italy and major Bush family campaign contributor Mel Sembler. Sembler is an arch-neocon who has been named by Italian intelligence sources as a key player in the laundering of the bogus Niger yellowcake uranium documents, the activities of Pentagon paramilitary operations in Italy, and the DSSA neo-Fascist private intelligence network linked to Israel's Likud that is currently being rolled up by Italian judicial authorities. Sembler maintains a close relationship with his BayWalk property -- his wife Betty celebrated her 70th birthday at BayWalk's Gratzzi's Restaurant. It is likely that Sembler is attempting to use BayWalk as a personal weapon against anti-Iraq War protestors.

If St. Petersburg does enact No-Protest Zones, tourists and conventioneers should take their business elsewhere -- to cities that proclaim themselves "Constitution Protection Zones."

not directly related to topic .......but yet very related .

Hijacking a Catastrophe. is exactly what the bush regime did post 9-11. Many of us presented this aspect , only to be chastised, condemned and if they could: stoned . They failed to see how 9-11 was the "best" thing to happen during the early bush regime......as then he had a built in "excuse" /rationale/ spin to carry out his various pre-conceived agenda. In fact, each catastrophe has been serving the bush agenda very well indeed.........as they continue to further it. The deviousness in this is beyond belief..........(and ergo , many CHOOSE not to consider it) The deviousness in this , is also blatant. The US is not the US anymore......and don't think it can be. The world dynamics have also changed drastically, .......and all due to a little man's GREED for more power, control ..... and money too.

9-11 is NOT to blame for all that has transpired, BUSH regime is. ......as they came their agenda from the onset . IF OBL was behind this catastrophe, he did bush the biggest favor one man could give another. Little wonder the Bin Laden family was flown out of the US so quickly post 9-11. (and the "security reasons" rationale began......) Little wonder , OBL Is alive and well,. Bush needs him as a figure head for terrorism to continue on his own path. of "terror" (bush style of course and more underhanded and devious) The entire dynamic takes shape ........ and sadly so many don't see this relationship , and how one was a catalyst for other "imperialistic" actions. (or maybe they are simply too apathetic to care)

I am about to start testing the concept of 'free speech' in Canada. My hypothesis is that 'free speech' is a myth in Canada as well as in St. Petersburgh.

interesting comment. (thought provoking) Free Speech...... seems loosely defined at best..... and simple/basic etiquette determines ( or should) what is said and what is best held in private council.----or 'how ' it is said.

. . . The September 2000 report of PNAC entitled "Rebuilding America's Defences: Strategies Forces and Resources for a New Century" was itself an update of a 1992 paper written by Dick Cheney, Secretary for Defence in the first Bush administration. The intellectual antecedents of the argument in the September 2000 report are also set out in frank detail in the 1997 book The Grand Chessboard by Zbigniew Brzezinski, the National Security advisor in the Carter administration.

The PNAC report called for unprecedented increases in US military spending, establishing military bases in Central Asia and the Middle East, toppling non-compliant regimes, abrogation of international treaties, control of the world's energy resources, militarization of outer space, total control of cyberspace, and a willingness to use nuclear weapons to achieve American goals.

The PNAC members recognised that in order to persuade the American people of such a radical shift in government policy required a "cataclysmic event of the magnitude of Pearl Harbour." Such an event duly arrived on September 11 2001, eight months after George Bush's appointment as President by the US Supreme Court (4) . . .

The Project for the New American Century.
William Rivers Pitt: 02/25/03

The Project for the New American Century, or PNAC, is a Washington-based think tank created in 1997. Above all else, PNAC desires and demands one thing: The establishment of a global American empire to bend the will of all nations. They chafe at the idea that the United States, the last remaining superpower, does not do more by way of economic and military force to bring the rest of the world under the umbrella of a new socio-economic Pax Americana. . . .

. . . . On September 11th, the fellows from PNAC saw a door of opportunity open
wide before them, and stormed right through it. . . .

. . . Bush released on September 20th 2001 the "National Security Strategy of theUnited States of America." It is an ideological match to PNAC's "Rebuilding America's Defenses" report issued a year earlier. In many places, it uses exactly the same language to describe America's new place in the world.

Recall that PNAC demanded an increase in defense spending to at least 3.8% of GDP. Bush's proposed budget for next year asks for $379 billion in defense spending, almost exactly 3.8% of GDP. . . .

. . . . There will be adverse side effects. The siege mentality average Americans are suffering as they smother behind yards of plastic sheeting and duct tape will increase by orders of magnitude as our aggressions bring forth new terrorist attacks against the homeland. These attacks will require the implementation of the newly drafted Patriot Act II, an augmentation of the previous Act that has profoundly sharper teeth. The sun will set on the Constitution and Bill of Rights.

The American economy will be ravaged by the need for increased defense spending, and by the aforementioned "constabulary" duties in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere. Former allies will turn on us. Germany, France and the other nations resisting this Iraq war are fully aware of this game plan. They are not acting out of cowardice or because they love Saddam Hussein, but because they mean to resist this rising American empire, lest they face economic and military serfdom at the hands of George W. Bush. Richard Perle has already stated that France is no longer an American ally. . . .

. . . . The plan was running smoothly until those two icebergs collided. Millions and millions of ordinary people are making it very difficult for Bush's international allies to keep to the script. PNAC may have designs for the control of the "International Commons" of the Internet, but for now it is the staging ground for a movement that would see empire take a back seat to a wise peace, human rights, equal protection under the law, and the preponderance of a justice that will, if properly applied, do away forever with the anger and hatred that gives birth to terrorism in the first place.

Tommaso Palladini of Milan perhaps said it best as he marched with his countrymen in Rome. "You fight terrorism," he said, "by creating more justice in the world." . . .

Federalized State Guard, National Guard and Police Train to Dominate American Citizens, Take Over Local Governments
Troops Equate Civil Disturbances with Terrorism, Citizens are called "rebels"

Alex Jones | August 11, 2005

Now fighting terror means tackling people. They've taken the State Guards and converted them into Stasi goon squads that engage in law-enforcement activities across the country. Last year, we reported on the Alabama Defense Force which has been setting up random checkpoints and searching women and children in Alabama. The same system has been set up in Texas. We have their internal field manuals. It's all about gun confiscation, mass arrests and total control.

Former Congressman Bob Barr has been all over national television warning the American people about current military restructuring that will put military forces on street corners. He asks, "Do we want, as a free people, with the notion of privacy enshrined in the Constitution and based on the very clear limits and defined role of government, to be in a society where not just the police, but the military are on the street corners gathering intelligence on citizens, sharing that data, manipulating that data?"

Meanwhile, The Washington Post is telling us how safe we will be because NORTHCOM, our new military overlords, are preparing to give us martial law to protect us from that evil concept formerly known as freedom, now known as al-Qaeda.

Watch this disgusting clip out of Roanoke, Virginia. Notice how they talk about fighting terrorism after 9/11.

I guess fighting terrorism consists of dealing with rioters. Why does the government think we're going to be rioting? Why have they been quietly building giant force structures for the last eight years?

The news piece points out police aiming their paint ball guns at the "rebels" and sniping them. I've been to ten of these drills in the last eight years. In Belton, Texas, in 2000, I had regular Army march up to me with the police and tell us to turn our video cameras off.

In 1999, we were in Oakland, California covering Operation Urban Warrior. Thousands of active-duty Marines trained openly with foreign troops to interrogate American citizens and confiscate our firearms.

In Swansboro, North Carolina, the Marines actually engaged in live, law-enforcement activities, assisting at checkpoints. In Hebron, Maryland, they practiced taking over City Hall and told our cameraman to turn his camera off. All of this is exhaustively detailed in my films, Police State 2000, Police State II: The Takeover and 9/11: The Road to Tyranny.

This is deadly serious. This is classical tyranny. They are turning America into an armed camp and treating us like slaves while leaving the borders wide open
Anybody notice but our troops have been practicing these drills too .They came here and practiced for 2 weeks and said it was for Afghanistan them they showed a drill on the news where they were arresting drunk people and the like I thought they didn't drink over there :?
