The only question I would ask is what do you do about countries that are extremely corrupt if you were to cancel their debts? Its difficult to fork over money to thieves. However, this is a good article. I would especially highlight this;

At the G8 I would also have preferred to see some discussions on fair trade, rather than aid, to create sustainable development. On subsidies the outcome was weak - comforting words, but little real agreement or commitment to substantial action. Meanwhile, in Ghana, for example, textile factories are closing down, the poultry industry is in crisis, and our farmers cannot compete with cheap imports. Thousands are losing productive jobs.

The West should drop subsidies and lower quotas on such goods.

Notice that it says fair trade though, Toro? It says nothing about wacky neo-liberal god freaks raping a country's wealth and hanging protestors who speak out against them.
